Congratulations! You have worked hard to obtain your golf handicap. You are now working even harder on the golf course to lower your handicap. Besides this wish, which can be very frustrating, there are many other issues which you should also be aware of in order not to add on to your already frustrating challenge.

GOLFERS’ GENERAL BEHAVIOUR

Do not be surprised to find that golfers are generally very impatient peoples, including ourselves perhaps. They often want to Tee-off once they reach the next Tee-box. If they are hindered by a flight ahead of them who are still on the Fairway taking their second shots, they will condemn them for slow play. Some will understand that the delay may be caused by another flight ahead but whatever the cause, it is hurting their nerves.

As a beginner, you are likely to take more strokes and therefore needing more time. But don’t expect tolerance from the back flight. You are a sore to them spoiling their good day of golf. They may even pressurize you by hitting their shots before you are completely clear to force you move on faster. Always on the look out for these kind of golfers if you do not want to be hit by a golf ball which I can tell you it is very painful. Of course you can complain afterwards but it could not undo the damages done.

The irony is, if they are the ones causing the held-up usually due to betting, they will blame the back flight for pressurizing them. Such is the mentality of golfers, they are never on the wrong side.

GOLF GAME

Golf is a gentleman’s game. Not only it requires honest declaration of scores, it also demands a great deal of patience and discipline. Unfortunately, most interpreted it as a man’s game; the ability to drive the furthest distance and finish in shortest time. So, they want to beat the time schedule allowed and proudly declare they completed 18 holes in 3 hours. Some above 18 handicappers, just because they could sometime hit a good Tee-shot, would play proudly off the Blue-tee and ended up playing short for most of the holes. They want to show off that they could play the game at a higher level of playing field.

GOLF ETIQUETTE

Finally, golf etiquette is equally important. These are the minimum behavioural requirements expected on the golf course. How should one behave on the Tee- box, on the Fairway and on the Green? I have listed these dos and dont’s at my Blog. You are welcome to visit my site for the details.

By: Winston Ho

About the Author:

Whether you want to cure your slice or add some distance to your drive, a correct golf grip always comes into play. There are 3 grips used in golf and they are plastered all over the internet so I will not go into any detail on the basics of golf grips and head straight into the advanced bit.

When preparing to make your swing, I want your to take a minute to analyze your grip to ensure that the following standards are being met:

Grip pressure is a sticky subject to write about. When talking about how much pressure to use when holding a club, the answer from most is usually a neutral grip. I have heard people swear that they play better golf using a strong grip. I would say that this is possible for some but I would not recommend it. Strong and weak grips are a common cause of slicing and should be avoided. Keep a neutral grip to ensure that you have the best opportunity to hit the ball straighter.

You will now want to take a look at your finger positioning. You should be holding the golf club firmly with the first 2 fingers and the palm of your left hand(right-handed golfers). When the ball is at address, if you look down, only 2 knuckles should be visible. Get a friend to check your position by standing directly in front of you. From this position they should see the same thing. You should realign your fingers before proceeding with your backswing and not try to fix it after.

By: Dennis Logan

About the Author:

You want to become a better golferyou have the drive, motivation and stamina. You think you have what it takes to be a golf pro. Except for one thing your swing needs improvement. Dont worry, many golfers face the same problems but there is a solution. Now is the perfect time to get some golf training clubs to make those improvements.

Golf training clubs are said to be the number one training aids in the world. Theyre literally fool-proof since the only way to know if you are swinging correctly is to make sure the hinge doesnt bend. Golf training clubs will improve everything from your posture, to your stance, and your swingall in one shot. But, there real key is to practice, practise and practise. So, all you need to do is get some golf training clubs and swing away.

3 reasons to get some golf training clubs:

1. You can literally mimic your physical movement with weighted resistance, thus improving your strength as well as your swing. Also, golf training clubs train the golfer to drive at greater distances than ever before. This is because you are training those muscles necessary to play golf, using many repetitions with the same or even greater range of motion.

2. Golf training clubs also promote a greater range of motion in the backswing and follow through. If you are trying to improve golf flexibility and power, golf training clubs are the way to do it. They provide greater impact on the ball, thus more driving force. Finally, you will gain greater head speed by using golf training clubs.

3. Weighted golf training clubs are an excellent way to warm up before a game. Swinging one 20 30 times will ensure greater flexibility in your muscles and allow your swing to be at its ultimate capacity. The greater the swing; the more power behind it.

As you can see, there are many great benefits to using golf training clubs. One popular golf training club is the Medicus. The system of this golf training club uses a hinge that when the swing is improper, the hinge bends or breaks. The only way to know that you are swinging correctly is if the hinge doesnt bend or break.

Pros actually use golf training clubs themselves to keep flexibility at its optimal level. Its no wondergolf training clubs can provide all that you need to make the improvements you want in your golf game.

By: Staffan Moritz

About the Author:

Cold weather has – historically at least – presented us with a real ‘catch 22′ situation, because in order to stay warm and dry we would need to pile on more (or thicker) layers. These extra layers restrict movement, which restricts the swing, which hurts performance, which lessens our enjoyment of the game – and isn’t that why we play in the first place?

To help us break out of this vicious cycle we’ll be looking at ways and means of keeping warm, and performing better, but first I’ve selected an example of a new lightweight ‘performance’ outerwear product that – through the use of new materials – allows both freedom of movement AND protection from the elements.

BUT, while I have a fantastic selection of outerwear that ensures you stay warm out on the course I cannot over-stress the importance of getting nice and warm BEFORE you head out.

Many golf-related injuries are the cause of insufficient stretching and warming up before the game – and the cold only magnifies that threat.

Now you’ve spent time and effort making sure that you’re fully prepared for the challenges of the day’s play it’s important to remember that temperature doesn’t just affect YOUR performance; it also affects your equipment – particularly your golf ball.

With prolonged exposure to cold conditions golf balls actually ‘tighten’ and lose elasticity – and with it yardage and feel – so if you want to make sure your golf balls are giving their best then either use a softer, lower compression ball or (especially with harder golf balls) simply leave them in a warm spot overnight.

Hopefully you’re now more ready than ever to face the elements, so get out there and do me proud!

By: James Langmead

About the Author:

Are you one of the thousands of bogey golfers who are wondering why golf is such a difficult game? I know I was, and then it struck me.

Golf is just way too complicated.

Really think about this for a moment. What other sport has 14 pieces of personal equipment required (your golf clubs)? In baseball the player has a glove and a bat. In hockey the guy has a stick. A soccer player has…well, actually he doesn’t have any personal equipment.

Not only do you have a lot of equipment, you have to learn a very complicated method to use it all. Most of the time we call this a proper golf swing. Many times however, we refer to this movement as topping the ball, or hitting fat, or chunking or just plain hacking. The so called proper golf swing is really not designed for the amateur golfer.

One analyst has broken down the golf swing into 64 separate movements. Can you imagine memorizing 64 movements much less thinking about them in the swing? Me neither.

So are all of those movements necessary to accomplish the mission; the mission being able to hit the ball and have it go where we want. I don’t think so.

If you were the CEO of a manufacturing business and you wanted to optimize your operation you might do a cost benefit analysis of all the lines in your plant. In other words, you would want to know what benefit you received for the cost of performing an individual process.

Here come the great golf swing tips.

You can apply the same concept to the golf swing and one of the very first things to go would be the wrist cock. Yes I know all the video golf swing tips and books talk about the power that comes from cocking and uncocking your wrist, but how much are you really giving up by eliminating it?

The biggest mistake amateurs make is the over the top golf swing. Typically the problem is in too flat a take away and then the golfer has to come “over the top” of that swing plane in an attempt to correct it. Now think what happens when you cock your wrist. Do you have total control of that moving club head? Is there a possibility of coming off the plane? And when you uncock, is there a possibility that you will do it too early or too late. What’s the result if any of that happens. A crummy golf shot, that’s what happens.

Want more proof?

The next time you go to the range pick out a target then pick a club, any club, and hit the ball with your usual swing and note where it goes. Now using the same club, try a swing where you don’t cock your wrist. Just keep your left arm straight and see what happens. I’m going to guess that you lose a little distance but that the ball was directly on line with the target. You have eliminated one of the most complex elements of the swing and have gained the benefit of the ball going where you want it to go. Your cost is the loss of some distance which probably means with the wrist cock your slice went further into the other fairway.

If you can make the game of golf simple then you will keep the ball in play more often which will result in lower scores. Breaking 90 is not an impossible goal.

By: Chris A Smith

About the Author:

Keeping the ball in play and out of trouble is the secret to lower scores.

The slice, in golfing terms, refers to the flight of the ball veering to the right or left, depending on the players’ dominant hand.

Ideally, you want to hit the ball straight down the course and not have it fly to the left or right. After all, a straight line is the shortest distance between 2 points, basic geometry.

However, if you are gripping the handle of the club too tight, this will result in an uneven swing and may cause the club face to hit the ball at an ‘open angle’. This open angled hit, no matter how minute, will drastically alter the balls trajectory in flight. Thus causing the ball to veer either to your right or your left.

A quick fix for this open clubface hit will be, turning your left hand towards the right and check if you can view the upper portion of your hand from this position. Also ensure that your palms are aligned before you swing.

Once this grip is mastered, it should drastically reduce your slices.

Another possible cure is by making sure that your feet and knees are aligned and touching each other when you swing.

This may feel awkward at first but with enough practice and time on the green, you should be comfortable swinging from this position and with this grip. You should then see a marked improvement in your swing and accuracy, as well as cure your slicing.

Just give these simple tips a try and see what happens. If anything, you will most likely enjoy that additional time on the green, so this is a win-win situation for you!

By: Tim Lee

About the Author:

Are you one of the thousands of golfers who have been playing for a couple of years and you just can’t seem to break that magic number of 90?It can be frustrating can’t it?One round your putter is on fire but every drive misses the fairway. The next time out you still have trouble on the tee but your mid irons work only to discover your putting has gone South.

You’re not alone.

We’ve all been there.

Want to know a way to change that?

Let me give you a great free golf tip.

This may sound a little silly at first but take a moment and really think about it.What if you just quit working on putting and driving and chipping and just played the game that you had. What if you quit worrying about those three shots and just focused on developing one. What if you had a shot that you just KNEW was going to go where you wanted it?Can you imagine the confidence you would play with? And what if that shot almost guarantee you could play bogey golf? It’d be pretty cool huh?

Well here’s the shot you want to master.Use your 8 or your 7 or whatever club that works that will give you a consistent 150 yard shot. This is the shot you need to master. You want to know that you can hit off the fairway, or out of the rough, or even out of a bunker and the ball will go where you want. You may want to invest in a lesson or two, or get a course online, or do whatever you have to do but you want to become a “sure thing” at 150 yards.

Why?

Well think about it.You probably won’t do this but you could.Take the average 400 yard par 4.If you used your 150 shot off the tee that would leave you with another 150 and then a 100 yard shot.Odds are pretty good you’ll be on the green in three and get down in two for a bogey. Now personally I couldn’t handle the ribbing that I would get from my buddies if I teed up with a 7 iron. But knowing that regardless where this drive landed, my second shot is going 150 yards and land where I want it to takes a lot of the stress out of the game.

And if your driver continues to slice, drop down to a 3 wood or a hybrid that you have better control of.The objective here is to simply keep the ball in play because you know you have that 150 iron in your bag.Once you focus on keeping on the short grass rather than crushing the ball for distance, a lot of the horror holes that you’ve had in the past with OB, water hazards and deep rough will disappear.

At the end of the day when you’ve shot 87 or 88 and you walk away with all the Nassau money, you’re going to start wondering, what’s the next great golf tip for breaking 80.That’s just the nature of the addiction.

By: Chris A Smith

About the Author:

People think playing golf is as easy as getting hold of the golf stick like a normal baseball bat and then hitting the ball. Bu there is more to it than just that, it is not just that easy for one to hit a golf ball and it lands on the tee that easily.

If you do not have the correct golf grip it is hard to be considered a good golf player. This is because it all results to a bad swing always. It is then very important for one to have the correct golf grip.

The first thing one should do if you are a right hander is to hold the top of the golf club with your right hand. Then your left hand should naturally from the shoulder, your hand being down the side of the golf club grip.

The left hand ends up turning slightly inwards, towards the body which is not wrong. The next thing is to bring the left hand from its hanging position and then place it against the golf club grip.

The one thing that should be noted is how the fleshy pad in your palm should run diagonally downwards to the shaft.

The next thing is to close the fingers of your left hand to form the perfect golf grip. The thing that should be noted is that the club should not be held too tight.

The pressure can be likened as to holding a tube of super glue that may result to one being damaged if not held carefully. It should be tight enough to hold but not too much to squeeze the glue out and make a mess.

The other thing for a correct golf grip is to place your thumb on top of the grip.

It should be a little to the right centre of the grip as you look down on it. The left thumb should not be pushed too far as it tends to give the feeling of a more solid grip yet it has the exact opposite effect.

This is because it ends up preventing the thumb to support the club at the top of the backswing.

The last final step to a correct golf grip is to bring your right hand from its natural and original position as you lay the club to the fingers. The index finger and the thumb should form a kind of trigger around the grip.

The last thing is to rest the little finger of your right hand into the groove formed by the first and second fingers of the left hand.

With all this steps followed carefully it results to a good grip that results to a good swing like that of Tiger Woods.

By: Ricky Lim

About the Author:

Do you know what a golf training glove is? Do you feel you need it?

It is quite correct to say this, but not too many people are aware that there are lots of training items one can find in the market that can help them become better golfers. One of these items is a golf training glove. Having a golf training glove is one way by which you can polish your swing and improve further on your golf game. Both amateur and professional golfers have made use of golf training gloves to help themselves reach their levels of play.

But you may ask: what really is a golf training glove and how does one use it? A golf training glove is a device strapped to the golfer’s hand that helps control wrist movements when he swings. It helps to stabilize grip pressure and minimize errant swings. Simple as it is, the device has been known to be effective. Golfers can feel it from the moment they swing with the gloves on. Their grips become steady, helping them in the process to execute flawless swings after another.

Where did training gloves originate? The golf training glove emerged from observation that around 90 percent of golfers tend to swing from the top a bit too hard. That kind of swing produces unsatisfactory results. The left hand loosens up due to inordinate support that leads to imperfect position of the club face. Golfers recognize that this problem is quite common, and seemingly not easy to correct without glove support.

A golf training glove works to buttress the golfer’s wrist with support or cushion it needs to stabilize the swing and execute a perfect shot. Wearing the golf training glove provides golfers with what is commonly known as “muscle memory”. It is a means by which their muscles get used to a particular movement until the movements become a pattern. After a time a perfect swing becomes natural to the golfer that his swing stays perfect even without a glove.

A golf training glove is therefore important for you if you want to further improve on your golf game and be the best golfer you can possibly be. It is equally useful for beginners who look forward to making it big in golf competitions whether at the amateur or professional ranks. The golf training glove will provide you with insights on why your game could not quite get off the ground and why it might have zoomed up to new heights.

By: Hermilando Aberia

About the Author:
