Golf Training Aids – Can They Really Improve Your Game
Looking to improve or maintain a respectable golf handicap, who isn’t? A low golf handicap is difficult to achieve and especially difficult to keep up if you’re not lucky enough to play on a regular basis. One proven solution is the use of golf training aids. What training aids work best? Each golfer should look at what part of their golf game needs improvement, putting, chipping, ball striking, distance, swing, or overall inconsistencies. While I love the game, overall inconsistencies is my problem.
If putting is your area of weakness you can choose from a large selection of indoor/outdoor putting greens to use at home, or depending on your situation, the office. Indoor putting greens may not have the contours of real golf course greens, however they allow you to practice any time. Outdoor putting greens are a little more like the real thing. While outdoor putting greens are a synthetic surface, you can give them some contour and slope. Artificial putting greens will assist you in developing a consistent, smooth putting stroke enabling you to sink putts in fewer strokes.
Chipping can be improved with the use of on target chipping nets and backyard flagstick poles. Land a chip in one of the nets or hit one of the flagsticks and you are on target. Chipping from a golf mat is suggested to simulate golf course conditions as much as possible. Chipping into nets or at flagsticks will improve your accuracy and contact with the ball. Using different wedges from multiple distances will also teach you which club to use for that distance and striking speeds necessary for the ball to land perfectly, without undershooting or overshooting your target.
Ball striking is always difficult to master. The pro’s make it look so easy. Just remember the pro’s have hit thousands of golf balls to develop and maintain that great swing. If you can’t make it to the driving range you can practice your swing with a golf cage or net. You will improve swing consistency, strengthen your swing, and learn to make superior ball contact every time. Golf cages or nets are convenient for practice and can be used outdoors or indoors enabling you to practice in foul weather. Most cages and golf nets sell for less than $100.00, making them more cost effective training aids then the driving range. Practice golf balls are also useful in developing and maintaining the perfect swing. Practice balls simulate the spin, trajectory, and accuracy of a real golf ball, but only travel a short distance. This is another convenient training aid that will permit you to practice anytime in your own backyard.
Golf training videos, books, CD’s, and DVD’s are also available from golf professionals such as Butch Harmon, David Leadbetter, and Jim McLean. These types of training aids will teach you the fundamentals of correctly playing the game, while demonstrating proper technique. If you are thinking of taking up golf these tools are cheap and will give you an idea of whether or not this is a sport for you, prior to investing money in very costly equipment.
Given the time and dedication golf training aids will continue to improve, develop, and maintain all areas of golf play. Granted nothing will ever be as good as the real thing, but you know what they say about practice making perfect.

Golf Tips For Beginners – How to Cure That Slice
Golf tips for beginners are about as common as oxygen in the atmosphere, but being considered a “beginner” in anything is not always the most comforting thing in the world, especially golf, as us golfers all strive for that “scratch golfer” reputation. Also, one of the biggest and most challenging obstacle to overcome in the game is learning how to cure your slice, as being able to hit the ball straight is futile to shooting low scores and having more fun on the course. But before I reveal one drill that has helped me overcome that darn score-raising slice, just listen to these words. All of the great golfers in the world: Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson, etc… were all beginners at some point and I guarantee you that they were struggling with a slice just like you are now. But enough rambling, read, print, and practice this drill, and hopefully your slice will vanish along with your high scores.
Anyways…
I call this drill the “three ball drill.” It is one of the best golf tips for beginners that I can recommend, if you are battling a strong slice:
The next time that you go to the driving range, hopefully soon, get the club that you slice the worst with, i.e. the driver most likely and follow these simple steps:
1)Get three balls out and set one up a normal distance away from you as if you were going to hit it.
2) Then place two balls (teed up if you are using your driver) on each side of the first ball, perpendicularly from you, and leave just enough space to where you can swing the clubhead through.
3)Then take a full swing and attempt to hit the middle ball. Try to just hit the ball in the middle, then it should go relatively straight, as hitting the other balls too will show you that your swing plane, i.e. the “line” that that your club swings on, is faulty, resulting in a slice or off-target shot. Practice this drill lots as I strongly believe that it is a great golf tip for beginners, and soon to be single-handicappers.
The reason that this drill works is because your main goal to learn how to cure that slice is to achieve an inside-to-outside swing path, which will cause you to hit the ball straight.

I bought the Cleveland Launcher right when it came out for around $400 or so, which only made my slice worse. I bought almost all of the training aids featured on the Golf Channel infomercials. But spending all of this money didn’t help at all. I had to face that fact that I was the key to learning how to cure my slice, not my wallet.
So after doing some research on the internet and making a pact with myself to cure my slice, it was time to get down to business…
There are so many “golf tips for beginners” out there that I was kind of lost, about which ones to spend my time on, all of them promising such a huge change in my golf game, that I became skeptical of many of them.
But I ran across one amazing resource, that truly helped me cure my slice once and for all: MySliceCure.com.
It taught me 4 simple drills, without all of the technical golfing lingo, that opened up a whole new golfing world for me. Golf is now so much fun, I love it! And I know you will too, so take my word for it.
I hope everything is going well.
Golf Beginners Tips – Finding the Perfect Club For You
If you’re still relatively new to the game and find yourself playing often, then it may be the right time for you to buy your own set of golf clubs. Some sets of golf clubs can be expensive, and could turn out to be a large investment for you, so in this article, I will provide you with various golf beginners tip that will guide you in finding the right set for you.
For the first golf beginners tips, you should consider how often you’ll be playing the game. If you think that you’re only going to play a coupe of times per year, then it would be pointless to spend your money on an expensive set of golf clubs that will never get used. You should consider buying decent, but used, golf clubs. Getting yourself a set of used golf clubs will be relatively cheap and is good for people who aren’t playing that much. On the other hand, if you find yourself to be a person who plays golf a lot, then it’s definitely a good idea to buy a nice set of clubs. Are you going to be taking lessons or practicing at the driving range often? Then get yourself those new set of clubs.
Another one of the golf beginners tips takes into consideration your size. This is important, because everyone’s height is different. Obviously, the taller you are, the longer you want your club to be. Before you go out and buy yourself a set of clubs, you should get yourself fitted for club sizes. If you ask a teacher or an experienced golfer, they’ll have a good idea of how to fit you, and they may even suggest a few good brands for you to use.
The last one of the golf beginners tips is about the type of clubs you should buy. If you’re new to golfing, then a great idea would be to start yourself off with a set called “game improvement clubs.” Basically, these game improvement clubs consist of hybrid woods and parameter weighted irons that make your swings much easier when you’re new to the game. You should use these for a while, until you become decent, then move onto a full set when you’re up for it. You could always sell the game improvement set to help pay for your new full set when you’re moving on.
Just remember these three important golf beginners tips when you’re selecting the golf set you would like to buy. There are plenty of different golf sets out there that won’t burn a hole in your wallet. You can find great sets if you look for them; just ask your friends, garage sales, or even online services such as ebay. Sometimes these used sets are close to brand new and you’ll get a nice discount! Keep these golf beginners tips for clubs in mind and you’ll advancing in no time!

Golf Swing – Grip Pressure Test You Need to Know to Get a Good Golf Swing
Many of my students overlook the most important ingredient to a good golf swing – grip pressure. This aspect of your golf technique is far from a science and each individual will need to experiment to find the right amount of pressure to apply. In this article I will give you a no-fuss-no-frills methodology that has help countless of my students to nail the perfect pressure in one session on the driving range.
Focusing on your grip is a no brainer. Your hands are the only points of contact between your body and the golf club. This means that all the momentum and torque your body generates has to be efficiently and precisely transferred through your hands into the club for it all to result into a good golf swing.
There is only 1 rule you need to bear in mind:
The TIGHTER you grip the golf club, the SLOWER and LESS FLUID your swing will be.
Points Of Contact
The question I get all the time about grip and grip pressure is ” Which fingers should I apply the pressure with?”. Firstly, pressure should only be applied in the FINGER TIPS, not the entire finger.
FORGET all the confusing mumbo jumbo about using “these fingers” for the left hand and “those fingers” for the right hand. For both hands, the pressure points are the thumb, index finger and pinky. The thumb and index fingers pinch the club, while the pinky is stabilises the grip.
The Practice Drill
Grip the club, applying pressure with the thumb, index finger and pinky. Start with your tightest grip you can. Now, gradually go from a scale 1 to 6. Grip pressure 1 will be your “death grip” and number 5 will be the lightest pressure you need to apply to prevent the club from flying out of your hands. Hit a few balls with the six different pressures. Majority of my students found number 3 and 4 to be their ideal grip.
Generally, as you vary your grip pressure from tightest to lightest, you’ll see the flight pattern change from a slice to a hook. In other words, the tighter a right hander grips the club, the tendency is to curve the ball from left to right. As you ease up on the pressure, you should see the fight path straightening out and at the lightest, the ball will curve in the opposite direction. If all this seems a tad bit complicated, it isn’t!

Tips For Correcting A Golf Slice
Correcting a golf slice is the fastest way to shave strokes off of your golf game. Slicing a golf ball is one of the most common errors that an average player makes.
Some golfers remain frustrated for years because they never find out why they are slicing a golf ball. But if you are ever going to become a good golfer, correcting a golf slice is a must. These simple tips will show you how to cure golf slices just by practicing some basic golf swing tips and instructions.
Proper Golf Stance
A proper golf stance should be about as wide as your shoulders. Make sure your shoulders are aligned at your target. Point your right foot straight ahead and point your left foot slightly to the left. Keep your elbows as natural as possible to maintain a proper golf stance.
Even minor adjustments to your stance can make major changes in where your golf ball will end up. Practice the proper golf stance at the driving range and make small adjustments until you get the results you are looking for.
Proper Golf Club Grip
Another common way of correcting a golf slice is adjusting your hands for a proper golf club grip. Grip the golf club with your left hand and put your thumb along the shaft.
The line between your thumb and index finger should be pointing toward your right eye. Wrap your right hand over your left and rest your left thumb into your right palm.
A common mistake most right handed golfers make is gripping the club too tight with the right hand causing the ball to hook towards the left. But the opposite is true with a slice. A weak grip creates an open club face causing your ball to slice to the right.
The best way of correcting a golf slice caused by your grip is roll your hands back so that your non dominant back hand faces the target and your dominant back hand faces the opposite direction.
Practice the proper golf club grip at the driving range to determine if this is what’s causing you to slice the ball. Take your time and make small adjustments to your grip. Even though a proper golf club grip seems simple, it is one of the most common ways of correcting a golf slice.
Correct Golf Swing Mechanics
Correct golf swing mechanics is another cure for correcting a golf slice. A proper golf backswing starts with your hands, is immediately followed by your arms and shoulders all in one smooth motion.
A proper golf downswing begins with your hips, keeping your eyes on the ball and your head behind the ball as you follow through. Once you practice the correct golf swing mechanics, you’ll be amazed at how quick you will lower your golf score.
Becoming a good golfer is a matter of practicing and playing on a regular basis while developing good habits. Small changes can often make a big difference in your score. Once you practice correcting a golf slice you’ll soon be hearing, “great shot!”
