Sure Ways to Improve Your Golfing – For Beginners
The golfing experience may seem like you have a lot of difficult swings to maneuver-which there are some-but that isn’t always the case. For the beginner you would need to know the basics of golfing before you can get that far. If you tend to slice the ball a lot, you can usually fix this by correcting your stance and posture.
There are a few easy things you can do to make sure your posture is right every time. Slightly bend your knees and tilt your body so that you are slightly bent over-but not too much so that you can’t swing. By keeping this posture throughout your swing, you will keep a straight line allowing for a great contact.
Your feet should also be shoulder width apart but your front foot facing away slightly from the other. This allows your body to rotate properly during your swing. Also having your weight toward the balls of your feet allows you to rotate on them and helps during your backswing. Typically how much weight you should put on each foot depends on the kind of stroke. For shorter distances your weight would be placed on your front foot, while for longer distance more weight would be placed in the back.
Another way that professionals can up their game is by buying a swing training club. This allows them to feel a pre-molded grip and get used to putting their hands in the same positions. Always practice your grip before you follow through with your swing to get the optimal result.

Discount Golf Clubs VS Branded Golf Clubs
If you are in need of new golf clubs, and you are not quite sure of what kind you want to buy, then it is a good idea to read through this article first before making your decision. With a mere few minutes of reading, we might be able to save you a lot of unnecessary spending.
Everyone on the course is talking about the new model of golf clubs that just came out in the market. If you buy that set, you will most certainly be the envy of your friends, and you will be walking proudly on the golf course, brandishing your luxurious new clubs.
On the other hand, there are several discount golf clubs that are being sold in the golf supplies store. Buying those discount golf clubs will not give you more prestige on the course, but you will definitely be saving a lot of your hard-earned cash.
The novelty of having classy golf clubs will fade in time, and by then, will your game have improved because of the expensive clubs? It’s possible, but to do that, you would have to practice almost everyday. If you are the typical working individual who just likes to golf on the weekends, let’s face it an expensive golf club will not do much to enhance your game.
Discount golf clubs may not be as impressive, but you can still do a lot with them, especially if you find a set that is quite good. Discount golf clubs are not necessarily substandard. You just have to look with a discriminating eye. You might even find secondhand discount golf clubs that are actually branded.
Many stores will sell you an entire set of discount golf clubs at a price equal to the cost of just one of the more expensive golf clubs. If you’re lucky, the store owner may even give you a golf bag at no additional cost.
Of course, discount golf clubs are not as perfect as those used by professional golfers. But who would really notice? Other golfers on the course will probably not even be interested in what kind of golf clubs you use. The more important thing is how you play, and whether you are having fun on the links.
Unless you are trying for the professional ranks, discount golf clubs will do just fine for your weekend golf sessions. Many recreational golfers are lured into buying expensive golf clubs in the hopes of playing a better game. But you know better. Playing a good game with discount golf clubs is definitely better than executing poor shots with a more recent but inferior model.

How Do You Cure a Slice in Your Golf Swing?
The golf swing can be very complicated for beginners, and as such is prone to mistakes. Mistakes can range anywhere from leading with the shoulders, to shorting your swing. Another common mistake, is slicing. A slice is where your hands are not at the proper rotation on the grip, causing the ball to fly in an undesired direction. So what do you do about it? The first thing you’ll need to do is determine if it really is a slice, since there is a variation called a hook. A hook is where your ball curves to the left, a slice is where it will curve to the right.
A good way to determine which you are, is to watch which way your ball curves, you can do this by having someone observe you as you play, or you can hire an instructor. The second one is a tad expensive, and the first might be inconvenient if you aren’t a people person, so one technique I’ve heard about is using a rubber ball and a hockey stick. It gives you an idea of what you are doing, and it’s also a lot easier to see than a conventional golf ball. I can’t take credit for this method, because someone told me about it, but its genius nonetheless.
Once you figure it out, you’ll need to adjust your grip accordingly, hookers will need a weaker grip, meaning rotating counter clockwise and a slicer will need to rotate their hands clockwise, or to the right.
If you have this problem, then don’t worry! Almost all golfers will experience this at least once, if not more in their career or hobby, whichever path they choose to peruse. The best way to overcome it, is to practice, learn, and be willing to learn new things. The way you grip the club has probably become a habit by now, and habits are hard to break, but if you want to succeed in this game, you’ll have to.
So what now? Now that you’ve figured it all out, you went to play an actual game, and ended up slicing again! Well, it happens, but alas there is a solution for this. You simply forgot where to put your hands. What you’ll need to do is take a piece of tape, or a permanent marker, and once you find the perfect spot to grip, take the marker, or a piece of tape and mark the spot, that way you always know where to grip, and your slicing will be drastically reduced!
I hope this article has helped you, and I hope your game gets better from here on out, if you need additional help, you can ask a friend for help, or check out a book from your local library. Remember that experienced players at your golf course will always be willing to help you out and give you tips. Good luck out there, and make sure you mark your club!

Getting the Correct Golf Club – A Beginner’s Frequently Asked Questions
Getting a good score in golf partly depends on several factors. One of them is the golf ball. Unfortunately, except for private games, you normally cannot control what ball you use. Two factors which you can control are your golf club and your swing. If you know how to choose the right club for the right situation and know how to use that club well enough, then it becomes easier to do well. The following is a list of 9 questions and answers to help a new golfer choose the correct club:
1) What are the correct golf clubs I need for a game?
Firstly, you are allowed up to 14 golf clubs. For their full set of golf clubs, many players choose a driver (1-wood), two fairway woods (generally 3- and 5-woods), a set of irons from 3 to 9, a pitching wedge, a sand wedge, a putter, and one more club of the player’s choice. A common variation is to replace the 3- and 4- irons with modern easier-to-hit modern “hybrid” clubs.
2) The hole is nearby. What is the correct golf club to use?
The putter. This club is specially designed to keep the ball on the ground and rolling on the grass after you hit it.
3) What do I use for my first shot?
You use the driver, also known as the 1-wood. This is your longest-ranged club. Normally, this will be only time you use this club. Modern 1-woods are designed to hit off the tee, and difficult for beginners to use elsewhere. They have the longest shaft and the biggest head.
4) My ball keeps on hitting the hills. What is wrong?
Generally, this means the number of your club is too low. A club with a higher number is designed to hit your ball higher into the air. The downside is that you trade distance for height.
5) I swing my woods the same way, but I cannot get a consistent distance. Sometimes the ball goes farther, sometimes nearer. What should I do?
Try a wood with a stiffer shaft. A stiffer shaft gives you more consistent distance, but reduces your maximum distance. This is probably your best choice if you are a weekend golfer without very much practice time.
6) Oops! My ball is in the sand trap…
Sigh… Step 1) Pray. Step 2) Grab your sand wedge.
7) There are so many irons. How do I know which one to use?
For a beginner, let me suggest the 1-Iron Golf System. Firstly, all the irons in your set of golf clubs have the same length, so you only need to learn one swing and one ball position. With a normal set of irons, you may need to learn up to 10 different swings and 10 different ball positions. While a pro may lose out in flexibility, a weekend player gains in simplicity and consistent performance.
Generally speaking, you use the high-numbered irons for more height, more control and less distance. You reserve the low-numbered irons when you need more distance, but not the height. Typically, the rougher the terrain, the higher the iron.
Normally, you would use the irons. They are designed to punch or cut through the grass and hit the golf ball. The heads of your woods, in contrast, are designed to skim on top of the grass.
9) I am facing a hole with a hazard right in front of the green. Which club do I use?
This is one reason why even beginners should try to develop a swing which delivers the ball a consistent distance. With just the right hybrid club, you can hit a shot to carry the full distance to the green in the air, but then “stick” on the green relatively close to its impact point. This is due to the design of many hybrid clubs, which prevents the ball from rolling very far at the end of the shot.

Hogan’s Real Golf Secret
Ben Hogan’s secret was his extraordinary ability to focus. This was not a gift from heaven. No, Hogan spent long hours perfecting his focus technique.
Robert DeLeon, my mentor and a golf biomechanics instructor, grew up in Austin Texas. Besides taking lessons from Harvey Penick, he had the opportunity as a kid to sit and watch Hogan practice. Hogan would take hours to hit just forty balls. He would hit a ball and spend a few minutes to rewind the shot in his mind and go over every aspect of it. Before he hit the next ball he knew everything he did right and wrong with that shot and was ready to hit the next one even better.
Hogan fine tuned every swing until it was perfect. He didn’t want any bad swings to creep into his system and create any bad habits. His swing is not one to emulate unless you are built like him, but his methods will make any golfer strike the ball well.
If you read very carefully, you can see in Hogan’s books just what he did. The problem is that you must understand the swing and his process before you can properly interpret what he wrote. It was only after discovering and perfecting Hogan’s system that I re-read his books for probably the tenth time, and realized that he did share his secret, but that he was looking at it from a stand point of someone who already understood.
Hogan’s swing secret was not just the balance and setup…it’s about how he achieved and controlled balance during his swing and how you can get similar results using his control methods.
The key phrase is how he controlled his swing movement. Anyone can make a great swing once in a while, but Hogan was known for doing it almost every time.
Hogan said that the game is played keeping the weight on the inside halves of the feet, but that is as far as he went. It’s too bad because this statement is the key and the starting point for understanding Hogan’s secret of control. His secret? The swing is controlled from the feet.
I have taken pros and blindfolded them, leaving them to monitor their swing completely by feel and been able to get them to not only to strike the ball purely, but to shape their shots accurately using only feedback from their feet.
Most of the pros on tour use his methods, except they use them subconsciously. Hogan took the process to the conscious level so he could monitor and correct his swing in motion.
Today’s pros have been convinced that they shouldn’t think about anything during the swing, but it has been proven that the mind will not think about nothing. Like it or not, your mind works all of the time, as shown in your dreams.
The trick with the golf swing is to focus in such a way so that those thoughts are completely visual, with feedback based on feel, thereby never bothering the brain with any distracting conscious thoughts.
