Golf grip is one of the most important features that will affect, the performance of the individual on the greens. It is advisable to improve the grip while learning to play golf, so that a person can be effective on the greens. It is seen that the grip of most professional golfers is quite similar.

It is important to find the best hand position and grip that suits the player. The correct hold comes only with experience and it is important that the person?s hold is consistent. Once a good grip is established, it is advisable to stick with it by adequate practice. It is important to practice gripping the golf club in a similar manner every time.

There are many ways to hold or grip a golf club. Usually a player uses two, three, or more different grip methods per round. The three most common grips are the ten-finger grip, the overlapping grip and the interlocking grip. It is important to determine the best grip for an individual. There are no restrictions on the type of grips, thus a player can experiment till the right grip is established.

The ten-finger grip is felt to be the easiest and oldest of the grips and therefore used mostly by novice players. It is more like a baseball grip. In this, the right-hand forefinger and the left-hand pinky, butt up to each other on the club. Even senior players or players with large hands feel most comfortable with the ten finger grip.

The Vardon grip, or the overlapping grip, is the most common and popular way to hold a club presently. In this method, the little finger of the right hand overlaps the forefinger of the left hand. Thus the left-hand pinky covers or wraps the right-hand forefinger.

Many great players such as Jack Nicklaus, Tom Kite, and Tiger Wood have the interlocking grip, which is the least common of grips. In this method, the left-hand pinky slips between forefinger and middle finger on the right hand and thus the left pinky and the right forefinger interlock.

By: Elizabeth Morgan

About the Author:

The Steps in Swinging

A full golf swing is composed of a complex but coordinated rotation of the body. The basic aim of a golf swing is to accelerate the golf club to a certain speed that allows you to hit the golf ball in your desired direction, pattern, and strength. If you are a right- handed golfer, then your full swing will be primarily composed of a back swing to your right and a down swing to your left.

Before thinking about swinging the golf club, you have to be sure that you have secured yourself with the appropriate golf grip and posture. A good starting point for swinging requires you to have a very comfortable and relaxed position for a steady swing. Note that the actual swing will start with you shoulders and arms, but requires full coordination with your lower body- particularly your feet, legs, and hips. Your arms and shoulders work their way up with your back swing until you reach the transition point that will initiate your downward swing to hit the ball.

Some Helpful Tips in Swinging the Club

Don’t overburden your arms. Swinging the golf club requires the coordination of your whole body, not just your arms. Do not think that everything about swinging relies on how you lift your arms. Your swinging will be better if you simplify the process. When swinging, imagine that you are just placing the club behind your back and all you need to do is to hinge your arm along with your shoulders.

Lift your wrists. When you swing the golf back straight, remember to lift your wrists so as to promote proper control over the club. As you bring the club to a back swing, note that your arms should be cocked in a right angular position at the moment that your arms and shoulders are parallel to the ground.

Swing like a clock. As you do your back swing, you can probably observe that your left arm will roll in a clockwise direction naturally. As this happens, you may notice that your golf club head will slightly open and you may feel the need to resist the extent of your swing in a clockwise direction. However, resisting will just impair your swing.

Stay on the ground. Never lift your front heel when you do your back swing. You may have the idea that lifting your foot will make the back swing better. However, that’s not the real scenario. Lifting your heel only creates tension in your lower body and requires you to twist your body more. Also, your feet serve as your anchor that supports your posture.

The Down Swing Starts Below. After doing a perfect back swing, you need to complement it with a superb down swing so as to ensure a perfect strike. However, your grip and stance will entirely be useless if you start your down swing using your arms and shoulders. When you reach your transition point, be sure that you trigger your down swing using your hips and feet. Note that while the back swing starts in your upper body, your down swing should begin with your lower body.

Turn your hips to your target. When you do your down swing, remember to twist your hips to the direction of your target as quickly as you can. When you do this, you will observe that your drives will be longer.

By: Benedict Yossarian

About the Author:

A proper golf swing starts with the correct grip. While gripping
the club properly seems simple enough, an improper grip is quite
common.

And without the proper grip, even though the rest of your
golf swing may be solid, your shots and consistency will suffer.
So how do you make sure your grip is correct?

Everything starts with the grip, and the grip starts with proper
placement of the left hand on the club. The left hand is the
first point of contact between you the golfer and the club.

The
correct grip with the left hand is what allows the proper hinge
of the wrists that positions the club to swing freely through
the ball.

A big problem for a lot of golfers is that the grip can look
right from the outside, when the hand is on the club. But you need
to take a closer look and see what’s underneath.

Many golfers have the shaft of the club running high on the palm of
the left hand. This inhibits your wrist hinge, which can cause you
both distance on your golf shots, as well as accuracy.

The shaft of the club should run diagonally across your hand from
the base of your little finger to the middle of your index finger.

While this is still primarily a palm grip, you’ll feel the grip
a lot more in your fingers than when the club was running higher
up on your palm.

This adjustment in your golf grip will allow you more flexibility
in your left wrist, allowing for a greater range of motion in your
hinge that is necessary to generate clubhead speed through the impact
of the ball.

If you’re looking to improve your golf swing, start by taking a look
at how your gripping the club with your left hand. A proper golf swing
starts with your grip.

By: Tim Hathaway

About the Author:

Countless golfers spend years in frustration trying to overcome golf slice and consequently cut several strokes from their scorecards. However, if they only take the time and effort learning how to fix a golf slice, they will be able to solve the problem and greatly improve their game play. In order to become a better golfer, you must learn how to fix a golf slice. Here are some tips and techniques you can try to cure your slicing problem.

1. Get a Good Grip

If you know how to grip the golf club correctly, you can fix golf slice quickly and easily. The right grip is to hold the club with your left hand and thumb aligned with the shaft. It should be aligned in such a way that they point towards your right eye. Then enfold your right hand over your left and make sure your right palm rests squarely on top of your left thumb.

A common problem with golf grips is holding the club too tightly with your right hand. This will make you hook the ball when you swing. However, a weak grip will almost always cause you to slice because it keeps the clubface open. So to eliminate slice, you should develop a balanced grip.

The best way to do this is by devoting a lot of time and effort by practicing on the driving range. Practice a new golf grip and see if it fixes your slicing problem. Continue making small adjustments to your grip until you find the right grip to fix your slice.

2. Keep a Good Stance

By having a good stance, your problems with slice are virtually half-solved. A good stance in golf means that your feet are spread out approximately as wide as your shoulders. Make sure too that your shoulders are lined up with your target. To find out if you are indeed aligned with your target, here’s a quick tip: lay your golf club down on the grass against your toes and see if it is aiming directly at your target. If it isn’t simply make adjustments until you are lined up properly.

Keep your elbows and upper body relaxed and comfortable but alert. Just remember that even the slightest movement can make a big difference in where your ball can end up. For best results, it is recommended that you dedicate time and effort to practice your stance on the golf course. Your dedication and determination will surely and eventually pay off with excellent results.

3. Develop a Good Swing Mechanic

Another tip on how to fix a golf slice is by correcting your golf swing mechanic. A good backswing starts with your hands, and then the arms and shoulders follow in one smooth motion. Meanwhile, a good downswing involves turning your hips while keeping a keen eye on the golf ball. Also, as you get to your follow through, make sure that your head is behind the ball.

These are the three important techniques you must develop and perfect to be able to fix a golf slice correctly. With practice and dedication, you will be able to eliminate golf slice and improve your game play in no time at all.

By: Tim Lee

About the Author:

The grip is the foundation of your golf swing and developing the right grip is critical to your success in hitting the ball farther and straighter. There are many different and difficult grips out there that you can use. Here are few common grip types.

With the interlocking grip, the index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand combine and interlock. It is commonly used by those that have thick hands, or shorter hands. This grip is usually the best option for most people and will allow you to create proper leverage for maximum power.

The overlapping grip involves having the little finger of the right hand sit on top of the index finger of the left hand. This grip is used by most male golfers because it does require strong wrists and forearms.

With baseball grip the index finger of the left hand and the little finger of the right hand do not overlap but do make contact with each other. This is usually the default grip for most beginners or golfers with weaker arm and wrist strength. You probably do not want to keep using this grip as the interlocking or overlapping will work better in most cases.

The natural grip is a very easy and basic method to learn and use throughout a beginner’s career. Through a few different techniques, this swing is a preferred choice for most and has many advantages. You hold this naturally in the basic grip-or natural hold.

By: William A Mitchell

About the Author:

Are you trying to fix a slice or a hook? Do you have concerns about your golf grip? There are a few different ways to hold a golf clubs, but which one is the correct or best way to grip your golf club? Read on to learn the different grips and which one is best for your golf game.

The first and most popular grip is the interlocking grip. The interlocking golf grip is one of strength and is used by most top golfers. It involves holding the golf club in a way that involves the pinky finger of the right hand (for a right handed golfer, the opposite for a left handed golfer) wrapping around the index finger of the left hand (again opposite for a left handed golfer). You would do this in a way that creates an interlock between the index finger and the pinky finger.

This grip can be very uncomfortable, at first, but after time you will get used to it. If you don’t already wear a golf glove and you are switching to this grip, then you might want to consider wearing one to make it a little more comfortable for you.

The second grip, which is also quite popular is the overlapping grip. This is very similar to the interlocking grip and can also be a very strong grip. This grip involves the pinky finger of the right hand (once again the opposite for a left handed golfer) resting between the index finger and the middle finger of the left hand (opposite for a left handed golfer). This grip is used by a lot of up and coming golfers and is a very strong grip.

The third and final grip is an unconnected grip. It is basically a baseball grip with a bit of variance. This is a grip that does not involve any overlapping or interlocking. It can be considered a weak grip and is not very popular. There are not many golfers that can make this grip work well for them. It can be a strong grip if applied in a strong and consistent way.

So, which one of these three grips is considered the best one? This all depends on the golfer and what they are most comfortable with. This does not mean that you should go with the unconnected grip just because it is comfortable. If it does not work for you, then don’t use it. It has to be a comfortable grip that works for you.

Now you can choose a grip that will help your golf game evolve into a better and more enjoyable game. You may even want to try all three grips thoroughly in order to find the right grip for you.

By: Benjamin R.

The connection of the two hands on the golf club is vital in order to have control and allow the hands to work as one unit; however the question of how a player should connect the hands is almost always uncertain. I believe the proper connection of the hands depends on the length of the fingers and the comfort level when holding the club. The two most popular connections are the Overlap, or Vardon grip, made popular by Henry Vardon. In this grip, the pinky of the trail hand simply rests on top of the gap between the index and middle fingers of the target hand, and the interlock grip popularized by players such as the great Jack Nicklaus. In this grip, the pinky finger of the trail hand interlocks between the index finger and the middle finger of the trail hand.

I believe most modern players prefer the Vardon, or overlapping grip as it allows the club to stay in the fingers of the trail hand easier. In order for me to use the interlocking connection, I have to put the golf club into the base of the fingers of my right hand, and as I stated before, I don’t allow the grip to touch my ring, so I must keep it in the center joints of the fingers. If you have long fingers, the interlocking connection may feel and work the best for you. When you come right down to it, it’s a personal preference and you should try both, keeping in mind the grip should stay in the fingers of the trail hand. If neither of these combinations feels comfortable, you can try the 10-finger grip.

With this grip, all 10 fingers are on the grip and there in no connection of the hands other than the hands are touching. The trouble with the 10 finger grip is the ease in which the trail hand can assume control of the golf club at the transition point, having said this, it may be the best for you if your hands are not strong and you need the extra leverage in order to control the golf club.

By: Robert Bernard

About the Author:

Golf training aids come in all different forms. You can even purchase golf gloves training aids. These help you to know exactly how to grip and hold your club for you to develop that smooth, consistent, and powerful swing. A good golf grip is a cornerstone of your golf game. If you do not have a correct grip on the golf club, then your golf game will suffer for it.

A Powerglove connects to the golf club with a Velcro strap so you will not grip it incorrectly and it also helps you to swing while keeping the clubface straight so it will hit the ball correctly. It also keeps your hand from opening up on the backswing, which can cause you to hit the ball wrong.

Golf teaching gloves have perfect grip markings on the gloves, which show you exactly where the golf club should be placed for the best grip possible. A good grip will ensure that you get the power and consistency that you need in your shot for straight shots that go the distance. One of the most important fundamentals is a good grip.

There are many different golf glove training aids available. The key is to find one that addresses your needs. You will want to research your options on the internet, in magazines, in books, or ask a golf club professional. Once you are more informed of the different options available, then you can use your information to make the best decision for you and your golf game.

By: Glenn Boulton

About the Author:

How to Grip the Golf Club like Tiger Woods.

First we need to establish some reference points on your hands so that you can easily place your hands in the correct position for each grip style that will be described. Although this article will give instruction as if you’re a right handed golfer, if you are a Lefty, then use the instruction in the same manner just reversing the hands (Right instead of Left etc.) An easy way to apply this golf grip exercise will be for you to use a marker to draw reference points on your hands and/or a golf glove(s).

Grip Reference Points

The reference points listed below have abbreviated identifiers marked in parenthesis that will be used to identify them throughout the remainder of this golf instruction guide.

Left Hand Marks

“(AS)” Anatomical Snuffbox – If you hold your hand in front of you with your fingers pointing away from you and your palm facing down, the “Snuffbox” (Actual Anatomical Name) is located on the right side of your wrist at the “base” where the wrist hinges. Continue pointing your fingers away from you and turn your hand counter clockwise pointing your thumb straight up. Flex your wrist so that your hand moves up and down vertically. While doing that, place the tip of the index finger of your Right hand on the “top” of your Left wrist. While your Left hand is flexed vertically upward, you will be able to feel two tendons on top of your Left wrist. In between those two tendons it feels like there is a “pocket. That “pocket” is your “Snuffbox.” Draw a small inch “X” on top of the “pocket.” “(BK)” Dots on your Big Knuckles – Make a fist with your Left hand putting the big knuckles that are located at the base of your fingers on “top” of your fist, palm facing down, and draw a inch size dot on the “top” of each of your first 3 knuckles. “(BIF)” Dot at the base of Index Finger – Looking at your palm, draw a inch dot at the base of your index finger in the center of the finger on top of the crease or fold in the skin. “(D)” D on the Callas Pad at the base of your pinky – With your palm facing you, draw a letter “D” (Short for Distance) atop the Callas at the base of your Pinky finger. “(N)” N on the Right side of your palm – With your palm facing you and your fingers pointing straight up, visualize a horizontal line in the middle of your palm. Now draw a letter “N” (short for Neutral) on the right side of your palm on the horizontal line you just visualized. The “N” will be located just below the “D” that you just marked. “(C)” C on the Heel Pad – With your palm facing you and your fingers pointing straight up, visualize a vertical line running through the “D” and “N” that you just marked. Draw a letter “C” (Short for Control) on top of the Heel Pad. The letter C should be about 1-1.5 inches below the N that you marked. “(TRS)” Line on the top right side of thumb – Point your thumb away from you with the thumbnail on top. Visualize the top center of your thumb, splitting your thumbnail in two equal halves. Focusing on the “right half”, now visualize the center of that half and mark it down the center by drawing a line from the first to second knuckles. This is the top-right side of your thumb. “(LV)” V between thumb and forefinger – With your palm facing away from you and your fingers pointing up, hold your thumb against your index finger. A “V” is formed between the top of your thumb and index finger.Right Hand Marks

“(BP)” Dot at the base of your Pinky – Looking at your palm, draw a inch dot at the base of your pinky finger in the center of the finger on top of the crease or fold in the skin. “(MIF)” Dot on the middle knuckle of the index finger – Looking at your palm, draw a inch dot in the middle of your index finger over the middle (2nd) knuckle where the crease is in the skin. “(LL)” The Lifeline – With your palm facing you and your fingers pointing up, mark the lifeline in the palm of your hand. It’s the line at the base of your thumb pad that runs from the bottom of your palm up and in-between your thumb and forefinger toward the top right side of your palm. “(RV)” V between thumb and forefinger – With your palm facing away from you and your fingers pointing upward, hold your thumb against your index finger. A “V” is formed between the top of your thumb and index finger. “?” and “(RV)” support the golf club – Hold your hand in front of you with your fingers pointing straight up, the palm facing left and your thumb facing you. Fold all 4 fingers over at the second knuckle. Tilt your index finger to the right so that it leans backward and notice that your index finger should now look like a question mark (?). Your question mark (?) shaped index finger and the “V” shape between your thumb and index finger (RV) are what supports the golf club at the top of your golf swing.A Few Rules

The palms on both hands “Always” face each other – The correct placement of your Right hand on the grip is determined after first placing the Left hand on the grip to ensure the correct positional relationship between both hands. If you hold your hands out in front of you with your fingers outstretched and your thumbs pointing up and press your hands together with the palms facing each other and then rotate your hands clockwise, and counterclockwise, that “relationship” between both hands maximizes your wrists ability to “cock” and “un-cock” during the golf swing and maximize the potential for club head speed. No matter whether your Left hand uses a strong grip or weak golf grip, your Right hand always mirrors what your Left hand is doing so that the palms face each other. One alternative to this rule is taught by some instructors. I’ve seen this grip style called a butterfly grip. Place your palms together in front of you. Leave your thumbs together and separate your hands at the bottom until your hands form a right angle or a 90 degree angle.Whilemaintaining the angle of yourhandsplace the lifeline of your right hand on top of your left thumb. Use this relationship when you place the right hand in “Step Two: The Right Hand Grip” later in this article. Each hand’s thumb and forefinger are “Always” held together creating a “V” as mentioned previously in the “Grip Reference Points” section. The Right hand “Always” uses a finger grip with the golf shaft lying across the fingers always at the same angle.Left Hand Grip Variables

Three Grip Angles

The Grip angle is the angle at which the golf shaft runs across the palm and/or fingers of your left hand.

The “Distance” Grip. – This is the one that Tiger Woods uses. Tiger says it gives him the best combination of sensitivity and control.

Advantages

Maximizes wrists ability to “cock” and “un-cock” for maximum club head speed. Good for distance and sensitivity.Disadvantages

Requires more strength and skill to square the club face at impact.A distance grip is achieved by gripping the golf shaft in the hand at an angle that runs from the base of the index finger (BIF) across the base of the fingers to the top of the callus that is located at the base of the pinky finger (D). After wrapping the fingers around the club, most of the gripping strength will be felt in the fingers with “some” pressure on the bottom of your heel pad. The thumb is placed against the index finger (LV).

The “Neutral” Grip. – Good grip for most people.

Advantages

Gives the most flexibility in terms of shot-making ability. Balance between distance and accuracy.Disadvantages

None.A neutral grip is achieved by gripping the golf shaft in the hand at an angle that runs from the base of the index finger (BIF) across the palm to the (N) marking. Wrap the fingers around the club. The gripping strength will be felt between the fingers and firmly against the bottom of your heel pad. The thumb is placed against the index finger (LV).

The “Control” Grip.

Advantages

Gives maximum control for accuracy.Disadvantages

Minimizes wrists ability to “cock” and “un-cock” resulting in less distance.A Control grip is achieved by gripping the golf shaft in the hand at an angle that runs from the base of the index finger (BIF) across the palm to the (C) marking. Wrap the fingers around the club. The gripping strength will be felt between the fingers, the palm and the top of the heel pad. The thumb is placed against the index finger (LV).

Three Grip Strengths

The “Strength” of the grip is determined by the position of your hand on the grip in comparison to the relative position of the clubface as you rotate your hand around the grip to the left or the right. The reference point used to determine the correct rotational position of the hand on the grip is the anatomical snuffbox (AS). To view the “Strength” of the grip using the (AS), setup to a golf ball as if you are going to hit it with the clubface pointing squarely at the target. Grip the club with your Left hand and look down at the top of your Left hand and determine whether the (AS) is over the top of the club shaft (neutral) or on the left side (weak) or right side of the shaft (strong). The following descriptions will include what the particular “Strength” being described looks like.

The “Weak” Grip.

Advantages

Helps eliminate hooking the golf ball.Disadvantages

Very difficult to hit the ball right to left.Looking down at the top of your hand, with the clubface pointing squarely toward the target, the anatomical snuffbox (AS) is just off to left side of the grip. Your thumb will be on top of the club shaft and your “V” (LV) points toward your chin and you can see 1 – 1.5 knuckles (BK).

The “Neutral” Grip. – This is the one that Tiger Woods uses. It’s a good grip for most people.

Advantages

Ideal grip for hitting the golf ball left to right or right to left.Disadvantages

Requires more strength to release the club squarely at impact.Looking down at the top of your hand, with the clubface pointing squarely toward the target, the anatomical snuffbox (AS) is directly over the top of the grip. Your “V” (LV) points toward your right ear and you can see 2 – 2.5 knuckles (BK). Tiger Woods sees 2.5 knuckles (BK).

The “Strong” Grip.

Advantages

Helps eliminate slicing the golf ball. Good for getting more distance. Good amateur grip as it requires less strength to square the clubface at impact.Disadvantages

Difficult to hit left to right.Looking down at the top of your hand, with the clubface pointing squarely toward the target, the anatomical snuffbox (AS) is on the right side of the grip. Your “V” (LV) points toward your right shoulder and you can see 3 knuckles (BK).

Three Unifying Grips

These Grips describe how to unify and snug your hands together so that your hands function as a single unit. Note: When placing your hands together, don’t try to smash them together to make them tighter because that looses valuable leverage. Just make them feel unified and snuggly fit together.

The “10 Finger Grip.” – This Grip places all 8 fingers on the golf shaft.

Advantages

Good leverage. Good alternative for kids and women.Disadvantages

Less Club head speed especially if the hands are allowed to spread out down the grip and not be snuggly against each other.
A 10 finger grip is achieved by gripping the golf shaft with all of the fingers on the shaft. The outside of your Right hand pinky finger is pressed against the outside of your Left hand index finger.

The “Overlap Grip.” – This is considered by many pros as the preferred method of unifying the hands.

Advantages

Good for larger handsDisadvantages

On people with small hands, the Right hand can tend to slip too far over or too far under the club in an effort to feel snug and fitted. An overlap grip is achieved by placing all of the hands on the shaft and lifting the pinky of the Right hand off the grip and pointing that finger straight out and then sliding the Right hand toward the Left hand until the third finger on the right hand is placed snuggly against the index finger of the Left hand. Now lay the Right hand pinky finger down over the notch that is formed between the Left hands index finger and second finger.

The “Interlock Grip.” – This is the grip that Tiger Woods likes. Tiger started using it because his idol Jack Nicklaus used it.

Advantages

Good for smaller handDisadvantages

There is a tendency to grip the club too much in the palm of the Right hand.An interlock grip is achieved by placing all of the hands on the shaft and lifting the pinky of the Right hand off the grip and pointing that finger straight out and then sliding the Right hand toward the Left hand until the third finger on the right hand is placed snuggly against the index finger of the Left hand. Now raise the index finger of the Left hand off the grip and point it straight out and interlock the Left hand index finger and Right hand pinky finger by laying the Right hand pinky finger down in the crotch between the Left hands index finger and second finger and laying the Left hands index finger down in the crotch between the Right hands pinky finger and third finger.

Maintaining stability throughout the swing

The correct placement of the Left hand down the grip is obtained by allowing inch of the grip to extend out or protrude out beyond the bottom of your hand. If you were gripping the club in both hands, you should be able to see inch of the end of the club shaft grip protruding to ensure that you have the maximum stability of the golf club in your hands throughout the swing. Doing this does not cause you to lose any distance.

Making a complete Grip

Step One: The Left Hand Grip

Square the clubface to the target line. Grip the club inch down from the top of the shaft on the “grip angle” you have chosen; “distance”, “neutral”, or “control”. The thumb and forefinger are placed together forming the “V” (LV). With the club head resting on the ground and the clubface still square to the target, look down at the top of your Left hand and rotate your Left hand around the club, counterclockwise to the left or clockwise to the right to the appropriate Left hand “grip strength” that you have chosen using your reference marks to verify the correct position as “weak”, “neutral” or “strong”.Step Two: The Right Hand Grip

With the golf club still on the ground in your Left hand, the easiest way to visualize how to get the Right hand on the golf grip is by grabbing the golf grip just like you were shaking hands with someone. With your Right hands palm approximately facing your left hands palm, place your Right hands fingers on the grip at an angle from the dot at the base of your pinky (BP) to the dot in the middle of your index finger (MIF). Place the Lifeline (LL) on the top right side of your Left thumb (TRS). Wrap your fingers around the grip. Keep your thumb and forefinger together forming the “V” (RV) and form the question mark (?) with your index finger. The tip of your thumb and index finger on your Right hand will touch or nearly touch. There will probably be a gap between your index finger and the second finger of your Right hand on the grip because of you forming the question mark (?) with your index finger.Step Three: Unify your Hands

Unify your hands using one of the “Unifying Grips.” Your hands should fit together comfortably and snuggly.

Grip Pressure and Feel

The golf grip should feel snug and unified in your hands, if it doesn’t then un-grip and re-grip making small adjustments if necessary. You should maintain a consistent unchanging grip pressure throughout the entire golf swing. Grip the club as loosely as you can while still maintaining control of the golf club throughout the entire swing.

Regular Practice

After you’ve determined which grip combination you intend to use regularly, practice it until its memorized and use the grip reference points to ensure you place your hands correctly every single time.

By: Shane Henrie

About the Author:

The single biggest golf swing tip instructions that golfer’s want the most is in dealing with slicing the golf ball. It’s a problem that 80% – 90% of all golfers face.

Does this sound familiar? You aim way left and hit your tee shot, only to watch it fly way right? How do you go about stopping that dreaded slice? This is exactly what you’re about to learn today. And in doing so you’ll begin to enjoy the game of golf like it is meant to be.

Slicing is caused mainly from these three areas: the swing plane, clubhead path, and the golf grip. It’s not caused by where you are aiming, or even how you’re standing. Once you make the adjustments in these three areas, you’ll put an end to the problem.

First, let’s look at the swing plane. Most golf swing instructions don’t touch on the swing plane, but that is the number reason for slicing the ball.

The swing plane for every golf club will be different. What I mean by that is if you take your driver and your 9-iron out and hold them at the address position, you’ll quickly see that the 9-ron is closer to your body. This means that the swing plane is going to be different for the 9-iron than the driver. The 9-iron will be more upright and feel straighter up and down, while the driver feels flatter.

The cause of most slicing problems is due to golfers swinging the driver on a steeper swing plane like the 9-iron. When you swing the club too steeply, the result is an outside in swing pattern and a slice. The key is to flatten out the swing plane which will create a straighter shot. This will take some practice, but continue to make adjustments and you’ll find the correct swing plane.

If this doesn’t eliminate the problem, then work on the clubhead path. The clubhead path needs to be square as it goes through the impact zone. This may require you to adjust the position of the club in your hands to be a little more to the left. Again, make the adjustments a little at a time while on the range.

Finally, the golf grip may be the reason for slicing. A weak grip inevitably causes the ball to go right. Try strengthening your grip by rolling your hands a little to the right, which causes the “V” to point more to the right of your face. A weak grip is the second most common reason for slices.

Of course, these golf swing tip instructions are not as detailed as they can be. You can find more detailed tips and instructions at the end of this article. With these simple tips and a little practice on the range you should begin noticing improvement immediately.

All Rights Reserved Worldwide.
