If you really want to improve your golf game, then golf swing training aids will be a big part of your endeavors. These aids help you feel the correct position of the golf swing so that it becomes a natural part of your swing.

Particularly if you are practicing or playing a round without your swing coach, and therefore don’t have somebody to watch you swing, these can help you make sure your swing is in the correct position at all times, even when you can’t see yourself swinging.

There are so many golf swing training aids, however, that the problem is finding the right one, because how do you know which ones work and which don’t? Don’t believe me about all the choices? Just flick on the golf channel and see what I mean.

What’s the best way to tell which training aid to invest in and which to avoid? Think about what area of your golf swing you wan to improve. For example, if you want to fix your slice, find a training aid that works with that specific area of the swing. If you want to gain more distance, find one specific to that.

This is the most critical part, because if you buy a golf swing training aid that addresses the wrong area, your game will not improve. All too many golfers start drooling over one they see advertised on TV, and go out and buy it without even considering if it addresses the part of their swing they have difficulty with. If not, I don’t care how many advertisements you see for it-don’t buy it.

In addition to the tips above, there are a few more you can use to determine if an aid is worth your money. First, ask who is behind the design, or at least who has used it to improve their game. If many golf pros are using it, then you can be confident the golf swing training aids being advertised are effective. If not, then avoid it.

Do you struggle hitting your driver? Some of you tee the golf ball low, thinking that you will be able to drive the golf ball through the air at a different trajectory. And those of you that tee it high think that that will make it soar through the air.

You thought that when you went out and purchased that 8- degree titanium boron shaft with a super-duper new grip, that it was going to drive down the middle of every fairway. Or maybe you purchased the newest golf training aid and you think youll be more consistent overnight. I dont think so.

Now here are the golf tips for driving better. The lower you tee a golf ball, the more your chance will be that you slice the ball to the right. The higher you tee the golf ball, the more your chance will be for you to hook the golf ball to the left.

If you’re hooking the golf ball, tee it down a little lower. If you’re slicing the golf ball, tee it up a little higher. And heres why.

When the golf ball sits on the ground and its a little lower than it should be, the golf club has to come in on a steep angle and that will cause it to slice. On the other hand, if you tee it up a little higher, it will come in and enable the club face to close a little quicker.

Now, heres the golf training aid on what to do on the first few holes.

My driver has 8 degrees of loft. That means the face is very flat. If I happen to have the club face a little too open or a little too closed at impact, the flight of the ball will either go to the far right or to the far left.

Therefore, I decided to use my great little 3 wood, and no matter what I do, I might miss it, but it wont curve as much as if I used my driver.

So, I hit the golf ball with my 3 wood and guess what. It went into the rough, but not as far into the rough because I went with a more lofted golf club for the first few holes.

So, the next time you go play, remember this golf training aid for hitting your driver. You dont have to pull the driver out every time you get on the tee box. Maybe you dont use your driver for the first two or three holes until you get a little warmed up, but in the meantime, take your favorite lofted wood and give it a whack.

We want and sometimes need to hit the golf ball a distance, right.

So you want to be able to hit your golf ball a long way.

Take a golfer, any golfer and if you have a couple of hours ask them how they are hitting the ball.

” I’m hitting my drivers great but my long iron play absolutely sucks!”

Ask the same golfer the same question a week later.

“I’m stiffing my long irons like a pro, but I’m hitting my woods like a bum”

As golfers we all want to improve our long game, so we have to sometimes analyse why certain things keep happening and why we are inconsistent.

The problem with golf is we use so many different tools to play the game, add to this each club requires a slightly different approach so its no wonder we can get a little confused.

In terms of hitting the ball further think of it in this way, if you can sweep the ball off the tee with your drivers and hit down on the ball with your long irons you are more than half way to being a good distance player. The key is to remember to try and alternate between these two fundamental concepts and you will hit the ball further.

Drivers are usually the longest clubs in your bag (unless you’re using a long putter). This means you are standing further away from the ball, which has the effect of making your swing more rounded.

The real secret to lowering your score is to remember what a driver is for. It is designed to hit the golf ball a long way in order to put it in a position for your next shot. Drivers do not have much loft and so are teed up in such a way as to encourage you to sweep the ball off the tee for maximum launch angle and distance.

Driving in golf can sometimes be overly “macho” and land us in trouble, it isn’t really about showing the guys how far you can smack a golf ball (although that is fun) its about hitting the ball as far as possible, as accurately as possible.

There is an old saying in golf that “The woods are full of long drivers”, I guess that’s probably true, but it should probably read, “The woods are full of wayward long drivers”.

To hit with power… releasing the right side in your golf swing is critical, but the only problem with that is most golfers don’t have the physical ability to do it. You see…your body needs the flexibility and strength in your core and hips to rotate through impact. Most golfers can’t do it. They are not physically capable to do it. If you struggle to release your right side, I’m going to show you why.

The physical requirement in your body to release your right side goes right into the core and hips. At impact your hips should be slightly open (which most amateurs cannot do) and your right shoulder comes through a little lower, which requires core strength and flexibility.

This is where golfers screw up!

The NEVER address these physical requirements therefore, NEVER can achieve this swing technique with their right side. Until you stretch and strengthen your core and hips, you won’t be able to do this resulting in weak shots that won’t go straight.

Does this make sense to you?

Am I getting you to understand that there are “physical requirements” in your body to make a mechanically sound golf swing? These requirements need to be addressed with a golf fitness program.

Golf weight training is not the same as the weight training that body builders undertake. Fitness and weight training in golf is designed to increase flexibility in your muscles.

A golf swing uses all of the muscles in your arms, shoulders and neck and when these are strengthened it is much easier to improve your swing and your game in general. When you talk about weight training in connection with golf training you are really talking about improving your strength and flexibility, not your body mass. Golf weight training involves certain exercises and routines that specially designed to help improve your fitness and your game.

Not all routines will suit every golfer as everyone is an individual, however each individual will need to incorporate exercises that include all of their muscles. A golf swing is a full body movement and this means that golf weight training needs to incorporate exercises that take account of this. Many golf fitness programs are designed with the golf swing in mind and this demands a specific set of muscle strengthening exercises, which are quite different from some of the exercises that body builders use.

Although heavy weights and weight lifting are not designed for golfing exercises a set of light dumb bells can be very useful. These can be used to help strengthen the muscles in your arms and your legs. Holding a dumbbell in each hand while flexing your knees can be a very useful aspect of golf weight training and there is a big difference in this type of exercise and the exercises that body builders might engage in. Dumbells can also be used in an up and down movement as this helps to strengthen the muscles in your arms – they are also useful as a form of resistance when you are doing your golf stretching exercises.

When golfers use both weight training for golfers and stretching exercises as part of their golf fitness regime then there is soon a noticeable improvement in their game, particularly their golf swing and their drive. The whole idea of a golf weight training program is for golfers to get themselves in shape so that they play a better game. If you want a longer drive each time that you hit the ball then you need more power, this power comes from the training and stretching exercises that you do to make yourself fit for playing golf. When you undertake golf fitness training it means that you are working on specific groups of muscles to increase their strength and their flexibility.

If your wrists are one of the weaker areas of your body then you need to concentrate on exercises that are designed to increase the flexibility in those joints and strengthen the muscles. Golfers who want to improve the distance of their drive need defined muscles and a well toned body, one way of achieving this is by getting involved in golf specific weight training exercises that are designed for golfers. When you work regularly on these specific exercises you will soon see the results in your golf swing and the length of your drive.
