Are you one of the thousands of bogey golfers who are wondering why golf is such a difficult game? I know I was, and then it struck me.

Golf is just way too complicated.

Really think about this for a moment. What other sport has 14 pieces of personal equipment required (your golf clubs)? In baseball the player has a glove and a bat. In hockey the guy has a stick. A soccer player has…well, actually he doesn’t have any personal equipment.

Not only do you have a lot of equipment, you have to learn a very complicated method to use it all. Most of the time we call this a proper golf swing. Many times however, we refer to this movement as topping the ball, or hitting fat, or chunking or just plain hacking. The so called proper golf swing is really not designed for the amateur golfer.

One analyst has broken down the golf swing into 64 separate movements. Can you imagine memorizing 64 movements much less thinking about them in the swing? Me neither.

So are all of those movements necessary to accomplish the mission; the mission being able to hit the ball and have it go where we want. I don’t think so.

If you were the CEO of a manufacturing business and you wanted to optimize your operation you might do a cost benefit analysis of all the lines in your plant. In other words, you would want to know what benefit you received for the cost of performing an individual process.

Here come the great golf swing tips.

You can apply the same concept to the golf swing and one of the very first things to go would be the wrist cock. Yes I know all the video golf swing tips and books talk about the power that comes from cocking and uncocking your wrist, but how much are you really giving up by eliminating it?

The biggest mistake amateurs make is the over the top golf swing. Typically the problem is in too flat a take away and then the golfer has to come “over the top” of that swing plane in an attempt to correct it. Now think what happens when you cock your wrist. Do you have total control of that moving club head? Is there a possibility of coming off the plane? And when you uncock, is there a possibility that you will do it too early or too late. What’s the result if any of that happens. A crummy golf shot, that’s what happens.

Want more proof?

The next time you go to the range pick out a target then pick a club, any club, and hit the ball with your usual swing and note where it goes. Now using the same club, try a swing where you don’t cock your wrist. Just keep your left arm straight and see what happens. I’m going to guess that you lose a little distance but that the ball was directly on line with the target. You have eliminated one of the most complex elements of the swing and have gained the benefit of the ball going where you want it to go. Your cost is the loss of some distance which probably means with the wrist cock your slice went further into the other fairway.

If you can make the game of golf simple then you will keep the ball in play more often which will result in lower scores. Breaking 90 is not an impossible goal.

By: Chris A Smith

About the Author:

Are you one of the 90% of golfers who can’t stop slicing? If so this article will help you in your efforts to stop slicing.

Having been a slicer myself I know the frustration one faces in trying to get rid of it. The more you try the worse it gets and in many cases people simply give up the game because they believe they can’t stop slicing.

A golf slice can be cured but does take a bit of work and practice. It is also vitally important that you practice the correct drills and to do that you need to know what it is you are trying to fix.

I have often heard the following ball flight patterns referred to as a slice:

A push. A push slice and A fade.

These all have similar characteristics, in that they end up going right (for right handed players), but they are in fact completely different shots.

A slice is caused by an out-to-in swing path with an open clubface through impact. A push is caused by an in-to-out swing path with an open clubface. A push slice is caused by an in-to-in swing path with an open clubface and A fade is caused by an out-to-in swing path with an open clubface though impact.

It might be that you are fading, pushing or push slicing the ball?

If it is any of these and you are trying to cure a slice, the result will be something completely different to what you intended and you might land up with a bigger problem.

You need to determine your particular problem which is not difficult to do.

Ask a friend to help you.

You will need a chair, a 1 meter length stick (bamboo is perfect), a pencil and a sheet of paper.

Stick the bamboo in the ground about 5 meters out directly in front of the ball and in line with the target. Now place the chair directly behind your ball so that the ball, the bamboo and the target are all in a straight line.

Get your helper to sit in the chair armed with pencil and paper.

Set up as normal aiming at the target and start hitting golf balls.

Ask your helper to note the following two things:

Does the ball go left of, right of or straight over the stake? Does the ball finish left of, right of or on target?

Do this with at least 20 balls and check what the majority of them do.

If they start left of target line and finish right of target you have a slice.

If they start left and finish on target you have a fade. Congratulations this is not a bad shot to be able to play.

If they start right of target and continue straight right you have a push.

If they start right and finish even further right you have a push slice.

Do not panic – you don’t have to take up tennis just yet. Knowing what you are doing wrong is half the battle.

Now that you know what shot you don’t want you need to decide what shot you do want. That may sound simplistic but it is true. What would your ideal shot be?

The most difficult shot in golf is a straight shot and I would not recommend that the average golfer aspires to playing this shot. Rather decide on either a draw or a fade, both of which can be controlled and give greater allowance for margin of error. A draw will give greater distance whilst a fade will be shorter but will land softer, both are useful shots.

For a draw you need to have an in-to-out swing path and a square club face through impact.

For a fade you need to have an out-to-in swing path and a square club face through impact.

You also need to have your grip, aim, alignment, stance and posture checked as any of these could be influencing either the swing path or the clubhead through impact.

If you cannot afford a lesson then there are alternatives, books, videos, DVDs and e-books are all great ways to learn how to do things and all include practice drills.

If you really want to get rid of your slice (or any bad shot for that matter) stop saying you can’t stop slicing and start doing something about it.

By: Lawrence Bredenkamp

About the Author:

Have you been groaning in frustration over how poorly you’re playing? Do you feel like giving up, giving in, and swearing off golf altogether? This is understandable. Golf isn’t an easy game to excel at. No two courses are alike, no game goes exactly as you play it in your mind, and a lot of factors you have no control over – such as the wind – can affect your playing. There is one thing you can do, however, to improve your scoring: learn how to play the game right. You can do this by signing up for golf classes, training one-on-one with a pro, learning from the masters as they tour, or by using golf swing training aids.

There are many different tools that you can use to improve your golf game. If you want to become a better golfer it is important to identify the problems with your game so that you can work on them. Everyone has a problem with their swing. Even the best golfers in their world do not have perfect swings and spend time and money to work on their flaws to make their game better. So what golf swing training aid should you use to fix your swing? Here are some common tools that many people use.

The golf speedometer is a great tool that can fix many problems in your swing. One of the main faults in peoples swing is a lack of consistency. This means that sometimes they may hit a ball two hundred yards straight down the fairway, but on their next swing they hook it into the water to the left. One of the main reasons we do not hit the ball consistently is because we do not swing consistently.

A speedometer will track the speed of your swing so that you can make sure that you are always swinging at the same tempo. This is very important for a good golf stroke. A speedometer can be a great golf swing training aid.

Another very common aid is a weighted club. This works along the same principle as a baseball bat donut. A weighted club will build your golf swinging muscles which will make it seem like your normal clubs are lighter. You can achieve accuracy, distance, and consistency by using this golf swing training aid.

If you want to become a better golfer you need to work on the many aspects of your game. If you feel like something about your swing isn’t working, make sure that you find the right aid to fix it.

By: Rob Jeffries

About the Author:

The putting stroke requires very limited and controlled movements. Uncontrolled movements like sliding, lifting or swaying can lead to miss-hits thereby adversely affecting your performance. Similarly, you need to train your eyes to stay stationed over the ball. Putting requires concentration and any deviation from this concentration may affect your distance control leading to miss-hits. Here are some golf putting tips for putting enthusiasts.

Keep A Skill Set

Keep lists of your putting practice exercises and skills you’ve learned during your training. Keep adding new skills that you learn to the list. You will profit by going back to the list from time to time because very often a basic exercise that you used in your golf putting practice routine gets forgotten and buried under all the new stuff that you learn. A good skill set list will help you visit and rotate all your exercises. This revision will bring you profit on the field.

Your Putting Stance

Golfers need to adopt the putting posture before they get ready to shoot. Spend some time and get your putting posture right during your practice session. Ensure that your posture is good, and that you have a straight back. Golfers shouldn’t hunch over the ball and the body weight should be balanced. Many golfers find it convenient to lean a little bit on the forward foot. Right handed players may lean a little on the left foot. It’s best not to get too close to the ball. Most golf trainers recommend the feet to be about shoulder-width apart.

Here is a relaxation technique for the intrepid putter. Stand for a few minutes in the address position. Imagine you are letting the entire tension stream out of your body. Deep breathing seems to help most golfers and a little deep breathing might aid the relaxation process.

Golf Putting Grip

Before you start putting always check your golf putting grip. Remember a relaxed consistent grip will in turn deliver consistency to your shot. Never try out a recently learned grip at a tournament. It’s better to familiarize yourself with the grip during the putting practice sessions.

Work On Your Short Putts and Speed

Getting your putting speed right is just as important. It’s important to practice getting just the right control over the club, so that you are able to impart just the right speed to make the hole.

By: John Davenport

About the Author:

Most people who play golf have never broken 90 in their golf careers.

This is obviously a major goal for these folks and a source of major frustration…

When I talk and play with these golfers, there is one common observation that I can make about their games that is creating a serious mental barrier to their progress… and that is an intense desire for “more distance”.

The other common observation I can make about their game is that they are passionate about golf and will do whatever it takes to improve.

The golf industry thrives on these desires:

“buy this driver and add 10 extra yards to your game”
“buy this ball for extra distance”
“Learn to swing like the pros”
“Turn more for more distance”

Whenever you look in golf magazines or watch infomercials on TV these headlines are everywhere….its no wonder that this distance message has rubbed off on the struggling golfer.

Yet, when you do the math on what distances you require to break 90 off the standard white tees on the typical golf course, the numbers will surprise you…

Understand the Numbers

Golf is all about numbers and making smart decisions. If you can understand the numbers that are necessary to meet your scoring goals, you will begin to make smarter decisions that will quickly lead to lower scores.

I say this because it is this lack of understanding of the numbers involved in the game that leads golfers to make bad decisions both on and off the course:

“I need this new $600 driver to get my drives to 230 yards….that will make a huge difference to may scores”

“If only I could get my irons to go further, what a difference that would make”

Yet, talk to these same people 6 months after their purchase and many of them have made little difference to their scores…

This push for distance is a huge mental barrier. Those golfers who progress faster with their games are those who have discovered how to overcome this mental obstruction.

What they need to do is make mental shift away from distance, to one of “consistency”…

If you can make that change, you will find your game will accelerate rapidly to lower scoring.

That process begins by knowing your numbers….

Understand the Distance Numbers

Golf is all about making smart decisions around distance. If you can understand the numbers that are necessary to meet your scoring goals, you will begin to make smarter decisions that will quickly lead to lower scores.

I say this because it is this lack of understanding of the distances involved in the game that lead golfers to make bad decisions both on and off the course:

“I need this new $600 driver to get my drives to 230 yards…that will make a huge difference to may scores”

Make this mental shift, and you will find your game will accelerate rapidly to lower scoring.

That process begins by knowing your numbers…

Average distances to Break 90

Let’s assume you play on an average length course of 6,100 yards. I am going to throw some average distance requirements per stroke out there to break 90 that are based on different putting abilities…

45 putts/round – average distance/stroke to shoot 89 =	138 yards
40 putts/round – average distance/stroke to shoot 89 =	124 yards
36 putts/round – average distance/stroke to shoot 89 =	115 yards
(average distance = 6,100 (89 – # of putts/round) )

For ladies on a 5,500 yard course the yardages are less:

45 putts/round – average distance/stroke to shoot 89 =	128 yards
40 putts/round – average distance/stroke to shoot 89 =	115 yards
36 putts/round – average distance/stroke to shoot 89 =	104 yards

As you look at these numbers, even some absolute beginners using a set of old clubs can reach these distances!

So where is the need for distance?

If you are any good at putting you could probably get round the course in 89 using only a 9/8 iron and a putter…

“Ah, but that is not how the game is played…” some might say.

That is certainly true. But then I would ask “how should you play the game and what are you trying to achieve?”…

Change of Thinking

In showing you these distances and prodding these questions I am not trying to be critical of those who play in the 90′s or above…

I am simply trying to help you clarify the numbers to encourage you think a little more about how you may be approaching your own game.

Of course I would not suggest you go around the course with nothing but an 8 iron and a putter. That is silly. However, these numbers clearly suggest that you do not need a 230 yard drive either.

So what can we learn from just studying these distances?

1. For starters, if you are able to average a 2 putt on every green for your round, you remove a huge distance requirement from your game.

This then should be your top priority for breaking 90…practice putting at home to get your putting average down to 36 or less per round.

2. The second observation that jumps out at us is that distance is not an issue if you are able to execute every shot cleanly during the round without a miss hit or duff shot.

Swing consistency becomes key, not distance.

Here is how your thinking and mental approach to your swing has to change…

It does not matter how far you hit the ball, but it is vital that you hit every shot with some level of consistency.

Consistency comes with a lot of practice, but it can also come from making smart decisions with your shot making…

Operating at the Top End of your Swing Capability Curve

Your judgment calls on distance and club selection can seriously affect your swing consistency…this is all a “mental process” and has nothing to do with your physical capability.

Let me show you an example…

Let’s say that you are faced with an approach shot to the green of 140 yards. What are your choices?

Well, on the range you know that you can reach 140 yards with an 8 iron….in most cases you might have a go with that decision.

How confident do you feel at executing that shot? What are the likely outcomes if you do not pull it off?

Here is what I observe with many high handicap golfers when making decisions of this nature…

9 times out of 10 they are always short of the green. This is because of either a complete miss hit duff shot or they did not catch the ball cleanly at contact.

On top of this the accuracy of the shot is off as well.

The reason for this is they are swinging at the high end of their swing capability curve trying to execute a “full turn”, because that is what they have read, or been told will give them the “most distance”.

If they adopt this same mental approach to swinging with a full turn during their practice sessions with all their clubs, their decisions on distance capability with each club is going to be influenced by the results they achieve on the range.

The shots they remember are the shots they hit well that go a mile, but do they remember how far they hit the balls that did not go so well?….probably not.

Whenever you try to run a “system” at the high of it capability it is going to experience some failure.

The same can be said of your golf swing. Try to swing with a full turn on every shot, and you will experience failure more times than not.

That is because with a full backswing extension you are more likely to experience:
Balance problems
Breakdowns of the left arm
Excessive tension in the arms that leads to a prerelease of the hands from the top of the swing and poor timing

to mention but a few…

OK. Now I want you to consider your chances of reaching the same 140 yards with either a 7 iron or even a 6 iron. Are you likely to be short with either of these two clubs?

The answer is, “no, only if I miss hit the shot completely. If anything I may overshoot the target…”

Choose a Club Down for better Swing Consistency

Here is how you can immediately improve your swing consistency on the course…

I want you to ask yourself why you put yourself under distance pressure for this 140 yard shot?

Why do you need to operate your swing at the high end of your capability curve and push the extremes of your swing limits with an 8 iron, knowing that you are likely to experience a miss hit?

This is totally unnecessary. You have the option of selecting down a club that you know you will reach the distance with a much higher degree of certainty.

This same thought process can be applied to every swing decision you make with every iron you have in the bag.

The only time you reach a point where you have to make a full turn to increase distance comes with clubs at the low end such as a 3 iron, 3 wood and driver where you no longer have the option to choose down a club.

Choosing to club down for all of your distance decisions changes your mental approach from one of going for distance, to one of going for consistency.

The first reaction you have when you make this decision is worrying about over shooting the target.

This thought process forces you to shorten your backswing so that you take some “heat” out of the shot.

When you shorten your backswing:

Your balance is better and your swing is much easier to time.

With improved balance also comes improved accuracy.

So, club down and shorten your backswing for improved consistency…

Set a scoring goal for each hole

You can reduce the pressure to swing for distance from your swing even further by accurately knowing what distance you need to achieve your scoring goal for every hole to break 90.

On a par 72 hole course you need to score 17 over par in order to achieve an 89.

You can break that down to a scoring goal for every hole of a 1 over par, only needing a single par on any one hole somewhere during the round.

Now let’s look at how knowing this information affects your decision making and club selection on the course…

For those of you who feel you need to add more distance to your game but have yet to break 90, I want to try and dispel this mental obstacle once and for all with this following example…

Let’s put you under a pressure for distance scenario on the course by imaging you are standing on the tee of a 410 yard par 4. Does this intimidate you? You bet!

“I need to have a long drive so that I can give myself every chance of getting on or near the green with my approach shot…”

“It is holes like this that bring out the need for that 230 yard drive! Even with that drive I still have 180 yards to go with the next shot.”

How do you rate your chances of pulling off consistent shots under this amount of pressure?

Not very high is my guess…”

Before you reach into the bag for the heavy artillery and psych yourself up for a monster drive, step back for a minute and think about what you are trying to achieve on this hole.

You are not trying to play for par, you are trying to play for a one over par because that is your goal for this hole.

Come to think of it, even a 5 handicap golfer does not need to go for par on this hole because holes of this nature usually have a handicap index of 5 or less!

Knowing you have 5 strokes to meet your goal, how can you best use those strokes to make each shot as simple as possible?

The trick lies in working your way back from the green to the tee, not from the tee to the green in your club selection…

Work backwards from the green for shot simplicity and improved consistency

First of all, I am going to assume you took note of my first observation and have practiced your putting at home and feel pretty good at averaging 2 putts per green.

That leaves you with 3 shots with which to work your way back to the tee to cover the 410 yards.

The first decision you need to make is at what distance and with what club can I feel confident at getting anywhere on the green 9 times out of 10, remembering that there is no need to push your swing to it’s high limits for distance.

Let’s say that a 65 yard pitching wedge comes to mind.

Ok, now let’s work back a little further and decide what would be a reasonable shot that you feel pretty confident at getting you within that 65 yard approach shot range even from light rough.

Maybe a 160 yard iron or hybrid club.

What’s left for your drive….185 yards, which for some of you may be a 3 wood distance.

What this exercise does for you is reduce the pressure to swing for distance completely from every shot tee to green. You will be able to swing well within your distance capability…especially if you also club down.

Your chances of executing this strategy with reasonable consistency compared to the “conventional approach” is going to be much higher because you are not swinging at the high end of your swing range.

On top of this, if you successfully land your third shot on the green, you give yourself a one putt chance of a par!

Now compare that opportunity to the “conventional approach” where you would probably be satisfied with a one or even a two over par….

Adding the Extra Shot and Shorten your Approach Shot

The one over scoring goal on every hole but one to break 90 allows you to design your tee to green play with an “extra shot” compared to a regulation strategy.

That extra shot on all the par 4′s and par 5′s reduces the distance you require for every shot considerably.

Knowing this allows you to back off and swing well within your distance capability by clubbing down.

The extra shot also allows you to select a shorter approach shot on every hole which improves your changes of getting on the green.

This helps you avoid many wasted short game shots from around the green which are tremendous shot consumers for high handicap players who have not developed a short game.

Breaking 90

As I have shown you in this article, knowing the distance numbers to break 90 takes away the pressure to operate at the high end of your swing capability on every shot

Making smart club choices by clubbing down, also eliminates this distance pressure.

The strategy of adding the extra shot from tee to green to shorten your approach shots on every hole, not only reduces wasted shots from around the green, you also give yourself more par opportunities for a one putt par.

The desire to add more distance to your game can be a major mental barrier that is preventing you from lowering your scores and reaching your goal of 89.

Make the mental shift to thinking more on how to improve consistency by swinging well within you distance capabilities and your scores will drop significantly in a short period of time…

Good luck and good scoring!

By: Les Ross

About the Author:

For most amateur golf enthusiasts their number one priority is to correct that ugly slice. A normal trip to the driving range includes hitting bucket after bucket of balls with their driver, all the while slicing the ball more and more. Instead of hitting it straighter the slice gets worse with each bucket of balls. As they leave the range they are still in search of that instant slice cure to improve their game.

Hitting better golf shots does require practise. But, if your golf swing is faulty, you will just be practising and reinforcing bad habits. Bad practise will not gain good results. The best approach, although it is also the most expensive approach, is to hire a golf professional to analyze and repair your golf swing. A good pro can have you hitting the ball straighter and even a bit farther in no time. If you can afford the investment, go for it!

If your funds are tight there are a few things you can try on the practise range that should help cure your slice. First, and probably most importantly, try changing the way you grip the club. As you address the ball notice your hands. For most amateurs the need to rotate their hands clockwise is necessary. Your right hand should be slightly over the top of your left, with all eight knuckles in a perfect line. Try overlapping the little finger of your right hand to where it rest between the knuckles of the first and second finger on the left hand. Of course, if you are a left handed golfer, the opposite will hold true. Try this swing a few times. It may be a bit uncomfortable at first, but keep trying. If you are still slicing, rotate your hands clockwise just a tad more.

Many golfers slice the ball because they tend to over swing. It is not necessary to kill the ball to get maximum distance. Try this quick drill while on the range. Tee up the ball, then place another tee about three feet directly in front and behind the ball. With a slow, deliberate swing make sure your club comes straight back and over the rear tee and during your swing be sure to swing through the ball towards the forward tee. Don’t overpower the ball, just be sure to swing through with a full arc on your swing. Slowing down your swing should help you hit it straighter, and may even increase the length of your drives.

These few tips should help in your endeavor to correct that ugly slice. Spend your time on the practise range wisely and you will find your scores begin to lower as you keep the ball in the fairway.

By: Steve Kettle

About the Author:

When it comes to locating great golfing tips, the web is filled with knowledge, but a lot of it is conflicting. What you need is a way to find the “tried and true” beginner golf swing instructions out there and I have the answer.

You aren’t going to be able to pinpoint many great tips while using search engines all the time. Actually, search engines are one of the main reason beginning golfers get confusion and conflicting information when trying to get better. Everything seems to be different than the next place you visit and you don’t know which beginner golf swing instructions are really going to work.

This is the exact reason why I started using golfing forums about four years ago. These forums are filled with golfers and most of them have already found the exact beginner golf swing instructions that truly do that job. Remember, for every one person (which I assume is you) looking to better your game in some way, there are hundreds of golfers who have already achieved what you are trying to do. You can find their stories, tips, techniques, guides and links in these forums. It give you a good peek at how other golfers were able to use and find beginner golf swing instructions to better their overall game.

If anything ,it give yo ua leg yup on people who continue to blindly sift through search engine results, while hoping they strike oil. With that said, finding good beginner golf swing instructions online is a fantastic way to shave quite a few stokes off of your scorecard.

By: Adam Woodham

About the Author:

When you decide you want to learn the game of golf, there are lots of basics you need to know about at the start. But where do you begin if you are a complete newbie? Well, there are various resources on the Internet to help you with the basics.

Golfing Tips For Beginners

The beginner golfer can start off by reading some free golf tips online. The Golfing Tips For Beginners site is a growing resource that you can visit to learn about every aspect of the game. You will find articles and links to specific sections for further detailed information. A couple of resources that you will find are links to free golf tips videos and a review blog.

Basic Golfers Tips

The Basic Golfers Tips articles cover the things that you need to know to get started. There are currently 8 articles covering the basics; starting with the scoring system, these articles will take you through choosing the necessary equipment to the different types of shots.

Golfing Resources

There are some carefully chosen resources at the golf tips for beginners’ page. You will find PDF eBooks specially written for the beginner golfer, the senior golfer and the woman golfer. Also, links to the best balls and clubs for beginners.

Golfing Equipment

You will obviously need some golfing equipment to start with. The essential items are clubs, tees, bag, and balls, though you don’t necessarily need to buy these at first; you can rent them out from your local course. On the other hand, if you are serious about playing the game, then buying a good set of clubs, balls and a bag is fundamental.

When you take the decision to buy your equipment you will see that there are hundreds of choices. Many of the big name manufacturers of clubs and balls spend millions each year trying to get you to buy their equipment. Don’t rush out and spend thousands of dollars on clubs that might not suit your game.

Preferably, start off with a good set of clubs that are designed with the beginner in mind. Sometimes, they are called game improving clubs and they are designed to be more forgiving to miss-hits. You can have them tailor made for your physical size and swing speed by customizing the clubs with the correct shaft type and flex.

Hence, for your basic education, check out what the golf tips for beginners website has to offer. There will be more articles added and more reviews at the blog to help you figure out what products are a good investment.

By: Mick Euan Tait

About the Author:

Golf requires a great deal of skill, mental discipline and patience to be good at it. You need to have good hand-eye coordination, stability, athletic function and be a creative thinker. You can search for all the best golf tips and endure endless numbers of golf lessons but you still can’t seem to create any consistency.

There are a lot of people today who play golf just for recreation and have fun. But more and more serious players are attempting to gain a better swing and improve their game. The issue with golf is that it is a very difficult game to conquer and you most likely do not have much time to play or practice. The pros who play golf for a living and receive the top rated golf instruction still struggle and they work at it every day!

If you are like the majority of average golfers, you want to play better and not hack around. When a round of golf is played poorly, it is not much fun. What does this mean?

Does this describes YOU?

You play golf 3-5 times/month and have never broken 90 or 80

You don’t know how to shape the ball (fade, draw, general trajectory)

You have too many three putts per round

You hardly ever hit greens in regulation

You have trouble getting up and down when you miss a green

A birdie is a rare occurence

You hit and hope the ball will go where you wanted it to

Or maybe, you are a more experienced golfer and usually score in the low or mid 80′s often but that’s it

If you can relate with any of these conditions of a poor golfer, it’s about time you did something about it. Nobody should have to play poor or frustrating golf.

YOU shouldn’t settle for poor golf because:

Habits that cause poor golf only get worse if you don’t do something to change them and good habits will help.

You could be wasting money on rounds of golf because they turn out to be just an expensive practice round!

Golf really doesn’t need to be so confusing and frustrating. If you find an easy way to break 80 you would have fewer gray hairs, stress and frustration.

Golf can be so much more fun if you can shoot in the 70′s than it is in the 80′s, 90′s and 100′s.

It really makes no difference whether you want to shoot par or break 100. The methods, approach and instruction in this learning center will allow you to achieve a lower handicap sooner rather than later. If you can find confidence in your game and swing and achieve consistency, it will be more than just another sport. It will be an achievement of a goal. Information from NGT Research states that, there are over 60,000,000 golfers in the today and more than 50% of them will never break 100 and only 33% will break 90. BUT listen to this- only 5 % will break 80. That’s 3 million golfers out of 60 million.

Do you want to be part of that 5% or the 33% shooting under 90, if you do then you need some help and this article is here to direct you to a place where you will find the help you need to play better golf.

By: Ricky Gee

About the Author:

If you’re serious about golf then having a comfortable, quality set of clubs to play with is an absolute must. There are choices in the marketplace to suit every budget; irons make up the vast majority of many golfers’ bags, but what areas other than price should you consider when looking to buy new golf clubs?

As golf is very much a game of feel, the grip is extremely important. The grip can affect your entire swing if it’s not right. You should be able to comfortably grip the club enough to secure it during your swing without feeling like you’re throttling it. The best way to ensure you make the correct decision is to try out a range of grips before you buy, but remember to do this wearing your glove so you get the real measure of what it will feel like when you play.

The next part of the club is the shaft. Up until recently there were only two main types of shaft available in the market, which were steel and graphite. You can now buy what are known as multi-material shafted irons which are a combination of the two alloys. Generally speaking, steel shafts are probably the most popular and allow you a good degree of flexibility and durability. These are also considerably cheaper than their graphite counterparts and offer a consistent feel throughout your irons, from 3 through to 9.

The main benefits of graphite shafts is the fact that they are lighter than steel which not only makes them easier to carry around the course, but can also increase your swing speed and give your game more distance. Multi-material shafts bring together the best of both worlds and are typically a mainly steel shaft with a graphite tip to give you that extra power as you swing through the ball.

Iron heads commonly come in two main designs, the blade and the cavity back. The blades distribute the weight of the club evenly which leads to the heads having a small ‘sweet spot’ making them unforgiving for the novice or high handicapped player.

The cavity back irons provide a much bigger sweet spot by distributing the weight around the perimeter of the head. These types of clubs are best suited to higher handicap golfers as they allow for some error in striking the shot at the heart of the sweet spot.

There are other aspects to buying new golf clubs such as making sure they are the right size for your height and the overall feel compared to your current set, which can be tested out through making sure you try before you buy.

By: Daniel Collins

About the Author:
