5 Beginner Golf Tips You Really Need to Know
Golf is one of the greatest games on Earth. It is also one of the hardest games. You would do well to follow these beginner golf tips to ensure that your entry into the golf world isn’t as bad as it could be. Too many people give up before they have really begun because they don’t adopt good habits. To give your game a turbo boost read on. 1) The golf swing is a side action. It is not an up and down action. To understand this fully take a ball and throw it from your side with an underarm technique. This is the type of action you want to develop. Notice that the further you want to throw the ball the more you need to turn your shoulders.
2) A time old classic is to imagine that you are swinging a baseball bat. The main difference is that the club will need to reach the ground at some point so your stance will be different. Practice swinging a golf club as if you had a bat in your hand to train your muscles to understand the technique you are looking for.
3) When setting up to the ball stand with your feet shoulder width apart, bend your knees slightly and bend down from your hips with your back straight. Practice this by sticking your behind out to get the right feel for it. You want your arms to hang in front of your body. Try not to hunch over too much. When it comes to playing for real you don’t want to be too near the golf ball or too far away – this tip will help you get this right.
4) Grip the golf club lightly. Most beginner golf tips miss this out – if you grip too tightly you will not be able to swing with freedom. This will have a very negative impact on your game. Imagine you are holding a tube of toothpaste and you only want to squeeze just enough to get a little paste out. This is what you are looking for.
5) When swinging try to be as smooth and rhythmical as you can. It might feel a little strange at first but the more you swing a club the more comfortable you will get. Try to imagine a big hula hoop surrounding your body at an angle. You want the club to be swinging round your body on this path and it should be accelerating the nearer to the ground it gets. Forget about trying to hit the ball – think more about the fact that the ball is in the way of your club. Too many beginners get caught up with trying to hit at the ball and end up taking the club away from its intended path. This will only end in tears.
The golf swing can get very technical. A lot of beginner golf tips introduce some difficult concepts too early and this results in confusion. Golf is as much a feel and touch game as it is a scientific one. As you become more used to the basics you can start to introduce some more advanced techniques.

How to Cure Your Golf Slice Fast
Nobody likes to slice the golf ball as it results in both loss of distance and accuracy which in turn costs you strokes on the golf course. The way to get rid of that nasty slice is not really difficult but will require you to analyze your current swing and fix some of those mechanical errors that are causing the slice. Here are a few tips that can help you hit straighter shots more often:
Tip 1: Keep the right hand passive (right handed players)
Many players in their efforts to hit the ball far use their dominant right hand to try to muscle the club through the hitting zone. The problem with this strategy is that it usually results in poor shots since using the right hand tends to cause a problem known as casting.
Casting is simply releasing the club too early which result in an outside to in club path that imparts slice spin on the golf ball. One good way to eliminate this is to focus instead on pulling the club with your left hand on the downswing. This will help to almost naturally cause the clubhead to move in an inside to out swing path which is ideal for straight golf shots.
Tip 2: Use less wrists during the swing
It is best to avoid using the wrist too much during the golf swing. Think of your wrists as simply a support mechanism. Focus on making good shoulder turns and hip movements that produce an inside to out swing path. Using the wrists too much during the downswing will cause the club to usually release early which results in loss of power and slices.
Tip 3: Move the hips laterally rather than turning them during the downswing
Turning the hips too much on the downswing can cause a slice shot since it throws the club head to an outside to in path. Your hips should slide slightly towards the target through impact so avoid turning them too early. The hips should turn after impact when the momentum of the follow through naturally causes them to rotate.
Tip 4: Keep the head down through impact
This is a common tip given to all new players but it is important nonetheless. Raising the head up too early can cause the club to come from the outside and cause a slice shot. Make sure your head stays down through impact and comes up naturally with the right shoulder as the follow through completes.
Tip 5: Be sure the club is square at the address position
If the club head is open (pointing to the right of the target) at address then this will cause slice spin. Check the club head during address and make sure that it is facing the target.
Tip 6: Slow down your tempo
Tempo is unique to every player. Some players will naturally have a fast tempo and others a slower one. However, if you are always slicing the ball then try to slow down your tempo slightly especially on the downswing. Swinging too fast can throw off your mechanics in many areas that can result in slices so slow things up a little to help in your efforts to hit the ball straighter. The Steps in Swinging
A full golf swing is composed of a complex but coordinated rotation of the body. The basic aim of a golf swing is to accelerate the golf club to a certain speed that allows you to hit the golf ball in your desired direction, pattern, and strength. If you are a right- handed golfer, then your full swing will be primarily composed of a back swing to your right and a down swing to your left.
Before thinking about swinging the golf club, you have to be sure that you have secured yourself with the appropriate golf grip and posture. A good starting point for swinging requires you to have a very comfortable and relaxed position for a steady swing. Note that the actual swing will start with you shoulders and arms, but requires full coordination with your lower body- particularly your feet, legs, and hips. Your arms and shoulders work their way up with your back swing until you reach the transition point that will initiate your downward swing to hit the ball.
Some Helpful Tips in Swinging the Club
Don’t overburden your arms. Swinging the golf club requires the coordination of your whole body, not just your arms. Do not think that everything about swinging relies on how you lift your arms. Your swinging will be better if you simplify the process. When swinging, imagine that you are just placing the club behind your back and all you need to do is to hinge your arm along with your shoulders.
Lift your wrists. When you swing the golf back straight, remember to lift your wrists so as to promote proper control over the club. As you bring the club to a back swing, note that your arms should be cocked in a right angular position at the moment that your arms and shoulders are parallel to the ground.
Swing like a clock. As you do your back swing, you can probably observe that your left arm will roll in a clockwise direction naturally. As this happens, you may notice that your golf club head will slightly open and you may feel the need to resist the extent of your swing in a clockwise direction. However, resisting will just impair your swing.
Stay on the ground. Never lift your front heel when you do your back swing. You may have the idea that lifting your foot will make the back swing better. However, that’s not the real scenario. Lifting your heel only creates tension in your lower body and requires you to twist your body more. Also, your feet serve as your anchor that supports your posture.
The Down Swing Starts Below. After doing a perfect back swing, you need to complement it with a superb down swing so as to ensure a perfect strike. However, your grip and stance will entirely be useless if you start your down swing using your arms and shoulders. When you reach your transition point, be sure that you trigger your down swing using your hips and feet. Note that while the back swing starts in your upper body, your down swing should begin with your lower body.
Turn your hips to your target. When you do your down swing, remember to twist your hips to the direction of your target as quickly as you can. When you do this, you will observe that your drives will be longer.

The Golf Swing Checklist For 350 Yard Drives
Have you ever wished you had a checklist that you could mentally run through in your head to ensure you’ll hit the ball 350 yards every time you teed off? Here it is…
1) Line up with your shoulders, knees, and hips parallel to the line you want to hit the ball. By doing this, you are setting yourself up to hit the ball down the line. if you slice, do not aim left. Your body will automatically try to compensate, leaving you will drastic consequences.
2) Bend your knees and keep your feet about shoulder width apart. In addition, place the weight of your body even spread on your feet. Don’t put it on the balls of your feet or the heels. You’ll lose balance if you do.
3) Keep your head down and always look at the ball. The minute you take your eyes off the ball, you’ll hit it off-center, leading to less distance.
4) Turn your shoulders and your hips, allowing yourself to use the maximum amount of momentum stored in your body to transfer to the golf ball.
5) Keep your left arm straight. Always, always keep your left arm straight (for right handers). If you bend your left arm, you will give yourself and outside-in swing, leading to a wicked slice.
6) Snap your wrists halfway through the downswing. Snapping your wrists makes your clubface close, taking out the possibility of slicing the ball.
7) Extend your arms and turn your hips when you strike the ball. Once again, this will impart the maximum amount of momentum on the ball.

Tips For Releasing the Right Side in the Golf Swing
To hit with power… releasing the right side in your golf swing is critical, but the only problem with that is most golfers don’t have the physical ability to do it. You see…your body needs the flexibility and strength in your core and hips to rotate through impact. Most golfers can’t do it. They are not physically capable to do it. If you struggle to release your right side, I’m going to show you why.
The physical requirement in your body to release your right side goes right into the core and hips. At impact your hips should be slightly open (which most amateurs cannot do) and your right shoulder comes through a little lower, which requires core strength and flexibility.
This is where golfers screw up!
The NEVER address these physical requirements therefore, NEVER can achieve this swing technique with their right side. Until you stretch and strengthen your core and hips, you won’t be able to do this resulting in weak shots that won’t go straight.
